Comments about Marmot PreCip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
I used these as my shell pants for an 8 day Wonderland Trail hike in June. It rained 5 of the 8 days. These full zip pants where great. Because the weather was so unpredictable, I would just put these on over my shorts every morning regardless of what the weather looked like. During the times that it was not raining, I would simply unzip the pants up to my waist and tuck the legs into the pockets of my shorts. So I was still wearing the pants, they just weren't covering my legs. When the rain would hit, I just pulled the legs out and zipped. Worked perfect.
There were a few times my legs and shorts got wet from rubbing up against wet bushes. By the time I pulled the legs out to cover up, I was pretty soaked. The Precip pants were breathable enough to dry me out while still on the move.
These are a great choice for light weight, breathable shell pants.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
I probably wore my pants over 500 miles while fitness walking and day hikes during the rain season. They seem to work and holding up quite well. It took me few trys getting these pants on and off until I finally figure it out, unzip ankle up to about knee level and unzip waste down to just above the knee level and it's a snap getting them on and off over boots and such. Normally I wear medium pants but I couldn't even get them on w/o any base layers, had to return them for a large.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
mediocre product, poorly designed. pants held together at the waist by 2 velcro tabs on each side of your hips. They are insufficient to hold the product up under any duress. They used the least amount of velcro the possibly could. Any stress on the velcro tabs, the velcro comes apart and the pants drop to your knees. Attaching the belt to my pack caused the pants to drop. failing to very securely attach the velcro when urinating cause the pants to drop. They should of beefed up the velcro but didn't. Zippers caught on the storm flap causing all kinds of [*] words. these things are going back to REI, only used once (once too many). Waste of money.

The side zippers jam again and again as I try to slide down toward the cuffs. It looks like there is a design or construction problem. Will be returning these as not usable.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
The full zipper gave me a bad feeling since I saw these pants at the store- just could not quite figure out how it could be waterproof. Well it is NOT WATERPROOF.
Right now we are in the middle of hurricane Dolly here in south Texas and this afternoon I decided to go out for a walk around the neighborhood to test my boots, my rain jacket, and my Precip rain pants.
After a 30 min hike my shorts were dry except for the side areas right along the zippers. I was more confused than disappointed and thought maybe I did not put on the pants correctly.
An hour later some branches swinging in the wind started rubbing against my roof so I put my Precips back on and went back outside to assess the situation. After about 20 min of walking back and forth under heavy rain in my backyard I removed the rain pants only to find my shorts soaking wet on the areas along the zippers! My heart sunk in disgust; I am leaving for a 12-day backpacking trek in northern NM in less than a week and I am now finding myself without a reliable pair of rain pants. I am taking this piece of junk back to the store!

Comments about Marmot PreCip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
I have had these pants going into their third year now and I still love them. I have used them in all sorts of weather and they have kept me dry more times than I can count. I mostly use them when I am backpacking/snowshoeing. The zippers are annoying at first but if you play around with them for all of ten minutes they work great and allow you to vent them in the summer. The waterproofness LIKE ANYTHING WATERPROOF will wear off over time, which is why you can get products to restore them to what they were like when they were brand new. ( I have only had to do this once.) They are also still in great shape except for one patch on the back from when I had stupidly left my knife in my back pocket after breakfast and then was sliding around on rocks in the Mahoosuc Notch in Maine. Bottom line is if you are looking for a pair of pants that are light, packable, easy on/off, and waterproof these are the best pants for your money.

Bought my pair a bit more than 1 year ago and have noticed their "waterproofness" seems to decrease over time. Hiked today in light rain and got soaking wet in less than one hour. I plan to return this product.

Worn on some stormy days in Glacier Nat'l Park (along with Marmot's Oracle Jacket). They did great. I highly recommend spending the extra bucks on the full zip for easier on/off. Keep an eye out for a sale, as they're a little pricey.

Comments about Marmot PreCip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
I climb 26 weekends a year in the Cascade and Olympic Mountain Ranges. I have used these pants for 2 years and I have been very impressed. The full zip option makes it simple to put pants on without taking boots/crampons off. Very breathable pants.
Remember - they are not Gore-Tex. They cost 1/3 as much and if you use them a lot the water proofing will where off. I have done my fair share of glissading in these pants and they're getting to the point that they need to be replaced but I got my moneys worth out of these pants tenfold. If you want a bomber pair of pants that will last you season after season than pay more, otherwise, these pants rock.
