Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
The REI Mistral pants are great for any outdoor adventure. I've used them rock climbing on long multi-pitch days, and hiking/scrambling on a snow covered slope.
The material is very breathable, stretchy, and wind/water resistent.
Highly Recommended!!

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
If you are a cold weather aerobic enthusiast and don't own soft shell pants you're missing the boat. These pants offer near perfect protection from snow, wind, and abrasion while offering unrestricted movement. They're not a rainpaint but out-perform a hardshell in every condition but low exertion in steady rain. The cuffs are a bit small for plastic ski boots but they've done the job for hundreds of thousands of vertical feet. After 4 years including 10 jobless months in the Southern Alps and the Himalaya they've earned a trip to the tailor to repair a few seams and the waist clasp. They remain in the rotation for year round bike commuting and pass for buisness casual in AK. Go fast in the cold. Buy these pants.

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
These pants are great in almost all aspects. They kept me warm and in good spirits during ascents of both Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. They have also done the trip on dozens of snowshoe outings in a good variety of temperatures.
However, these pants aren't just for the snow, they work well in just bout any weather under 65 degrees. I've worn them trail running on cold mornings, and treking through forests on adventure races.
One thing to note, they are NOT waterproof. They will shed some water, but they can and do get wet. Also, I really wish they had some reinforcements on the butt and the knees. If you sit down in the snow, you are going to get cold.
Overall, for great outdoor pants that breath well and don't need to be completely bombproof, you will have a hard time finding a better product, especially at the price.

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
One active season of use and these things are still going great! They kept my legs dry during a rain & snow slog up a mountainside, kept my bum dry during a 2,000' glissade, held up great to sitting and moving around on rocks (no scuffs or tears) and did a great job of keeping me warm (too warm when combined with thermal undies). Wear them over a pair of shorts and you'll be set for all types of weather. My only complaint is that the shin zippers don't go up high enough to take these pants off with my hiking boots still on.

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
These pants are among my all time favorite clothing purchases [...]. They have performed flawlessly in a wide variety of outdoor activities over a two year period. I did replace the original elastic belt with a non elastic aftermarket belt. My pack had a tendency to push the waist line down as I walked. Excellent value.
