Comments about Shimano SH-56 Multi-Directional Release Cleats:
I love to ride, but because I'm mostly on the streets, was not sure about using the cleats, although I knew they are the best and most effecient way to ride. Tried the standard, horizontal-release cleats, was discouraged by the rigidity of release, went back to regular pedals (which I didn't like either). So when the[...] showed me these, jumped at the chance. LOVE THEM. Without any loss of holding onto the pedal, I'm still able to quickly release since I have some ability to lift my heal when turning my foot out. All the difference in the world! Everyone told me about the crashes I would have to do, but has not happened with these. I've had to do some emergency releases while on the road (as can be expected) with no problems and no crashes. A big plus while riding on the streets of L.A.!

Comments about Shimano SH-56 Multi-Directional Release Cleats:
See my other shimano cleat review [sh-51] as everything there applies here, this product works well and I have no complaints but I will not use it much, personal decision not based on the product but I only want one direction for release, it is simpler for me. I would recomd that if you purchase these also by the SH-51 and try them both you might find one better suited to your cycling style. They defiantly work as advertised and are a great product. Also you might want one of each on as you could dismount differently depending, cycling is very personal, some people might like these because they have more options for getting out of the peddle. Cheers

Comments about Shimano SH-56 Multi-Directional Release Cleats:
I used to be an avid cyclist when I was younger but now I am more recreational rider. I recently switched from my old toe clips to the SPD pedals. The cleats that came with my shoes were OK but I wanted to be able to get out more quickly and reliably, so I bought the multiple release cleats (SH-56). I went out with one shoe with the original (SH-51) cleats and the other with the new multiple release (56). After trying one foot then another the difference didn't seem so great. However, when I tried both feet at once (as in an emergency), the multiple release came out every time and the original cleats did not. I definitely will stick to the new multiple release cleats.
