Comments about REI Merino Wool Liner Socks:
Pros- the PERFECT liner for me- feet stay dry, moisture is wicked very well, stays warm in cold weather, not too thick. Not scratchy like the Smartwool liners. No blisters at all. Best of all NO SMELL. My feet stink horribly in a synthetic sock…. but after a full day of packing, setting up camp and general use in the merino, my feet did not smell at all, nor did the sock. Furthermore the sock was basically dry at the end of the day. Before trying these, I used the coolmax and ultimax liners, which always felt clammy, cold, and constantly damp regardless of conditions. I will not be wearing anything but these liners from now on.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Liner Socks:
I wear 7.5 women's shoes, so according to the chart, I'm a medium. But the medium size is 6.5--10! That's a huge range which is probably why these are so loose on me. Liner socks should fit pretty snugly to prevent blisters and sweat, so these don't work. I thought they might shrink and fit better, but no such luck. That lack of shrinkage is good news if these fit you. I'm going to return the two pairs I bought and look for something else. My Smartwool cable dress socks work better as liners than these do.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Liner Socks:
Great socks. I use these as my everyday socks for work, school and home. Tired of cotton socks, I looked for some merino wool socks that would fit the bill of an everyday use sock. I found these and the Smartwool version. The Smartwool version is black (whereas the REI brand is dark grey) and it's a little softer. These are both things I liked over the REI model. But the REI model was cheaper. I bought 3 pair of each and after 6 months of use, the Smartwool socks all have enough wear in the balls and heels that they look like fishnet and are starting to tear out. HOWEVER, these REI socks are still going strong with no sign of wear! I love them and I've purchased more of these. A great everyday sock.
For merino wool socks they are very affordable, but I still don't see why merino wool is so darn expensive (anyway, I buy it so it must be worth the $$).

Comments about REI Merino Wool Liner Socks:
Bought these lightweight socks for 7 day, 55 mile loop hike in Yosemite's High Country. They were quite comfortable and helped keep my feet blister free but developed a toe hole and started to unravel at the top of the sock four days into the hike. Will return them to REI for refund.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Liner Socks:
I use these & smartwool black liners daily for work and hiking etc. The REI liner is much more durable, more comfortable and fits a little better. Highly recommend,as the price is good compared to smartwool. Would love to see a dark brown and black color.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Liner Socks:
This is a great liner sock for mountaineering or any other sport that requires a liner sock. It helps to keep your feet warmer than a cheap pair, and does a good job of wicking away the sweat. Reinforced stitching on the toe makes it more durable. It's a bit pricier than I like to spend on a liner sock. However, that can be expected since it's Merino Wool. It's also worth it to spend a few extra dollars if it'll keep your feet comfortable.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Liner Socks:
This sock is finely woven, well made, and near indestructible. I wear it exclusively day in and day out, for work, for hiking, for travel. It has yet to show any sign of wear. It is wool, so it insulates even when wet, but seems to keep you cool as well on sweaty summer days. It's a "liner," I guess, due to its thinness, but it's a full sock in its own right as well. Being thin, it dries quickly when you have to wash it in a hotel sink -- even though wool typically isn't the fastest-drying fabric. I'm very impressed.
The only improvement I could suggest: How about a second color? A medium-gray, perhaps, to go with this dark-brown-black.
