The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about National Geographic TOPO! Outdoor Recreation Mapping Software - Oregon:
This map program makes it possible for you to find and map routes on actual USGS maps at home. These are the same maps that your local retailer sells and that the forest servive uses. I've used these for several years on my computer at home to search for hiking and backpacking trails. They are great to search areas for trails, campgrounds, and mountains. I can easily see elevations and map routes. I can print overviews or closeups of trails. I can map distances in town as well as on the trail. I use this with adventure paper that is waterproof and doesn't tear so that my maps can withstand hiking, backpacking, and even paddling trips. I highly recommend the map program as well as the adventure paper. We use them for every trip we take. We have both the Oregon and California versions.

Comments about National Geographic TOPO! Outdoor Recreation Mapping Software - Oregon:
the software has great auto features as creating TOPO and GPS routes. Does great at creating elevation profiles and the ability to copy the maps and profiles to a word document.
has interface problems with Garmin GPS when upload waypoints from the GPS. It does not give them the same names. There is no 'undo' or 'redo'. Cannot use the escape key to quit an operation.
the 1:24,000 resolution is great for making detail maps. I use the software all the time to plan trips.

Comments about National Geographic TOPO! Outdoor Recreation Mapping Software - Oregon:
Superb software. I'm a bit of a map geek anyway, so this fits great into my plethora of stuff. There are too many super cool features to trumpet, but my favorites are: advance trip and trail planning in advance using the distance and elevation profiles; transferring waypoints to and from my Garmin Foretrex GPS; saving multiple favorite trips in organized folders; embedding notes and images on files after a trip.
The menus are straight forward and easy to follow for anyone, techy or not. TOPO tech support is great, and they offer frequent updates and downloads from fellow consumers, trail groups, and agencies.
