by fromI MAY OF GOT A LEMON I was in love with everything about this knife and still am to some level, because I accept that I might of just got a lemon. It opens very smooth and closes securely. It has a very sturdy grip that allows you to move the belt clip to the other side if you are left handed. My problem was that a very improbable part of the blade fractured out a half moon while doing something I have done thousands of times with other less impressive and thinner knives; shaving a stick into a stake. This made me look to see if there was a [*]label on the blade somewhere.Because of REI's fantastic satisfaction guarantee I am going to try a replacement out. It just won't be the only knife I carry until it proves it isn't as allergic to work as the last one.

by fromGood knife, but disappointing Great size and shape, both the blade and the handle. Lock is strong, openings simple. The blade corrodes really easily, though; something I never experienced with "lesser" knives. Also, the blade chipped when sharpening sticks to roast marshmallows. I was really surprised and disappointed by this. I returned it and upgraded to a different Benchmade model. No regrets. As always, REI was great.

by fromGood outdoor knife Very good/safe locking mechanism and very smooth easy deployment. This folder is really like a full size fixed blade with fat handle and blade length. Blade is a bit long for handy everyday use. I have both sizes of the Griptilian and I much prefer the Mini. The Mini feels perfect, the full size is like a full size fixed blade.

by fromMy "Go-To" blade. I carry this knife everyday "just in case". It is light-weight, high quality and very durable. It is my "go-to" knife when the going gets tough. Well worth the investment.

by fromGreat all around blade A knife is a cutting tool. If you bend or break your knife because you are prying something with it, then you lose. This knife is made of very high quality 154CM steel. Which is something that REI is very bad about advertising. They are not doing knife manufacturers any favor by listing their knives simply as "Stainless Steel." There are a wide varieties of steels available for multiple purposes, and plain stainless steel is junk all around. 154CM is a good quality steel, but no steel edged tool is designed to stand up to being used as a pry bar.
