          Comments about Mammut Genesis Superdry 8.5mm x 60m Dry Half Rope:

          Compared to other singles and BW doubles, the genesis are my favorite ropes. They handle really well, and have remained supple without getting slippery. No problems with twisting or knotting for a long time, until I was forced to rap down with a munter. It's taken several full length raps to straighten out, but finally it's no longer getting super twisted.

          I've taken a bunch of small lead falls, no big whippers, rope seems fine. Very little fraying.

          Great ropes for the Gunks, where you can pretty much rap off anything with doubles. Doubles help protect the many wandering routes and routes with traverses. Great for bringing up two seconds. Works for ice as well.

          Not for use as a single rope.

          Will buy another set of Genesis when I need them.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

          Big problem with these ropes - color

              I ordered these ropes for use with trad/alpine. (My British climbing partner much prefers doubles.) I ordered an "orange" and "green" rope - the only color choices. I never used them b/c when I opened the box, they were not orange and green respectively...one was orange and green and black and the other was green and orange and black. They use the same color strands, only in *slightly* different proportions. The online photos are misleading. Basically, the ropes are almost identical...and if they were in a pile on some crag in dim light or a snowstorm, they would be impossible to tell apart! Maybe this isn't a problem for everyone, but I don't want to be trying to sort these ropes on a twilight rap or shouting, "Take on the rope that is a little greener than the other rope!". I returned these and ordered ropes that are really two different colors.
