Minimalist design and sleek aesthetics won't cramp your style, yet the helmet offers serious protection from impacts incurred during a fall.
Co-molded EPS (expandable foam) is injected into a lightweight polycarbonate shell for incredibly strong structural integrity
Ample side vents allow good airflow, so you can keep a cool head; top vents have mesh screens to keep out debris and ice while expelling heat
Headband adjusts instantly with a nape-mounted dial, easily operated with one hand
Headlamp strap retainers keep your light secure on early alpine ascents and late descents
Nylon webbing chin strap can be adjusted with the helmet on or off
Meets all UIAA and CE specifications for shock and energy absorption, conical impact, security of retention straps and ventilation standards

Great light weight helmet. All helmets are bulky, so anyway...

I was deciding between this and the Petzyl Meteor 3. Both are great helmets.

Pros to the Petzyl are that it has good protection padding and is very comfortable and the strap is very comfy, cons are it is a bit more bulky then the Black Diamond Tracer and that it takes a bit of adjusting to get it to where you like it and it does not seem to have as good of protection padding as the Black Diamond Tracer.

I am returning the Petzyl and sticking with the Black Diamnond Tracer as it is comfortable, better padding protection, less bulky even though the Black Diamond cons are the straps and helmet itself are not as comfortable as the Petzyl...

I choose Black Diamond Tracer for good comfort, good straps and most important excellent protection!

Protection wins over comfort, especially since the Black Diamond is still comfortable.

Bottom line:
Petzyl has good protection and excellent comfort.
Black Diamond Tracer has excellent protection and good comfort...

Although a tad pricy, this helmet is very nice for climbing in hot or humid climates. It is very breathable and very lightweight. Great for canyoneering trips where weight may be an issue.

I use this helmet for short sport climbing and long multi-pitch trad climbing. It is an extremely light and comfortable helmet... I often forget I am even wearing it. The protection looks and feels solid, but I, personally, have not taken a fall that has tested it.
