Great little compass...for certain uses

I don't actually own one, i got the silva ranger instead. but i've used this compass quite a bit doing survey work. it is one of the best for getting reallllly accurate bearings. its a little funky to get used to using both eyes and reading the small numbers inside, but you can really point it exactly at what you want and take an exact reading. it does not however work well with maps, as there is no clear base or way of turning the dial. might be great for orienteering if your partner has a regular compass.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      I love it. Not so sure it would be good for reading off a map but we have one in the company trailer for pointing dishes and antennas the right direction and it works great and takes a good beating I've found it rattling amongst nuts and bolts in the trailer for who knows how long.
