Comments about EDELWEISS Axis 10.3mm x 60m Dry Rope:
I bought this rope almost a year ago, and sadly find myself looking for another already. I have several ropes from various manufacturers, but this one has had major core-slippage and I've already had to retire it.
I attempted to contact Edelweiss three times about this issue, but hey have never even had the courtesy to respond. Considering the rope is less than a year old, and has had no major lead-falls, major core slippage is just unacceptable.
Due to the rope's issues, and Edelweiss' attitude, I would not recommend this rope or any Edelweiss rope, even for TR. So sad...

Comments about EDELWEISS Axis 10.3mm x 60m Dry Rope:
I used to be a big fan of Edelweiss ropes, they were strong, and cheap. I bought this rope last summer and by the third time out sport climbing it had developed long flat spots about 20 feet in on both ends, and the sheath seemed to be loose, so that the rope would get really twisty after long climbs. I saved it to use when I take inexperienced climbers so that they can top rope on it. At this point, I would never use this rope to climb anything on lead that I was sure I wouldn't fall on. Given that I got three real uses out of the rope, it was not a good value. In the past I have had Edelweiss ropes, especially the Torrent, last me season after season.

Comments about EDELWEISS Axis 10.3mm x 60m Dry Rope:
I love it for sport climbing, as long as I don't have to lug it too far. It's a bit heavy. I've taken it on a few long canyoneering trips in Zion and kind of regretted it. It's a little heavy dry, and super heavy wet.

Comments about EDELWEISS Axis 10.3mm x 60m Dry Rope:
This rope is great for sport climbing and top rope ice climbing. However, it is too heavy to take on long trad routes or mountaineering trips.

Comments about EDELWEISS Axis 10.3mm x 60m Dry Rope:
Used outdoors during summer. It got the job done, but kinks very easy and will kink itself up while belay no matter how organized you keep the rope on the mat. Also very stiff and has seemed to only get stiffer over time.

Comments about EDELWEISS Axis 10.3mm x 60m Dry Rope:
This rope is tough, but there is nothing special to it. It's still very stiff despite very frequent use over spring-fall climbing season. It also kinks very easily and is hard to un-kink, which makes it very annoying when belaying. I use it for local top-roping; it's too heavy to carry for anything else.

Comments about EDELWEISS Axis 10.3mm x 60m Dry Rope:
This was my first rope and I purchased it on sale. I've used this mostly for outdoor trad climbing and toproping. I was hoping it would soften a bit with use but it still seems fairly chord-like, not soft and supple like some of the BlueWater and New England ropes I've used. The sheath seems a bit rough and after only a few months of use (with a rope tarp) it became quite dirty. I suspect this is aluminum oxide rubbed off of my belay device and carabiners. I have cleaned it once.
I was happy to get a relatively inexpensive rope as my first, but I will be retiring this well before I had originally planned based on premature wear, handling and quite active use over the last 6 or 8 months.
