Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
I agree with the previous review, although I got a lot of use out of each set of batteries by using the lowest setting and being very mindful of turning off the lamp when not needed. The light weight of this lamp does not compensate for the cost of batteries. I have been much happier with a different light-weight LED headlamp that uses AAA batteries. This also allows use of rechargeable batteries. The AAA headlamps are not that much heavier, and have brighter beams. It is worth the extra few ounces.

Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
1st off, There are two versions of this lamp in two different packages one is a 4 mode and one is a 5 mode. The 5 mode is a brighter longer life light. Other than that they are the same. (See the pics) We own 3 of them all the 5 mode and they are very light, bright and durable head lamps. I wouldn't put them in the same catagory as some of the high dollar lights but if you don't know that when you buy one that's your fault. If you are looking for a great light for hiking, packing and camping you will have a hard time doing better in the price range... If your a climber or involved in activities where you need the best quality product this isn't it. (I wouldn't want to have to trust my life to this) but, for the average outdoor Joe/Jill it is great.

Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
I like this. It is good for the price. The beam could be a little brighter, but that is the sacrifice you make for the small size. If you want to spend a little more, maybe you should get one with a couple more bulbs, but if you are just trying to not trip over things on the ground as you walk at night this will work. Also, I took mine with on my trip to Brasil. If you were wondering, this light is bright enough to spot the red shine from a cayman crocodile at night. It's pretty cool. Also, at one point I dropped mine and it stopped working ( I was pretty rough on it). I just sent it in and they sent me a new one. No problem.

Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
I've bought and tried a few headlamps, before purchasing the "scout".There are pros and ocns to any product, it's finding the best fit, function and design for your needs that really makes a product shine. This product is best suited for runners, in my opinion, it's super light weight and easily clips on the brim of a hat or visor. You can also use the included headband, just not my favorite thing to wear. It's water proof, just in case you are caught in a storm. The visiblity is good; it does draw power on the brightest setting, but I usually turn mine to the lowest or to intermittent flashing (a very nice feature for a twenty some dollar light). The replacement coin batteries (CR2032) are somewhat expensive in comparision to barrel type. But overall worth it (4 batteries @ [$] each), due to the lightweight. I really use it for road running and have not tried it on the trails at night. Overall, I think the light is sufficent for my needs and improves my visibilty to drivers at night or in low light conditions.

Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
took this on 5 day river float. very light and compact. was surprised at its brightness. a little floppy and hard to turn on/off. not good for heavy physical activities but perfect around camp. i picked this up for[$]. was skeptical but turned out to be great.

Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
I used this headlamp primarily for ice fishing. The light weight, adjustability (which could be improved), and the amount of light this thing has were perfect for strapping on to my head for long periods looking down at the floor. It's pretty comfortable too.
The most blatant flaw is that the plastic clips that connect the lamp unit to the headband are VERY FRAGILE. Mine broke when I was trying to adjust the headband and wasn't even touching the lamp. Once a plastic clasp breaks off, the entire thing gets very uncomfortable and can barely be used. I replaced it with different headlamp, which I'm not entirely happy with, but at least the new one won't break when I breathe on it.

Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
I have now used several lights and well this one is a good around camp light it provides a decent beam for such a small light but on the down side it constantly pops off the headband and though i have not dropped it but i have broke one in my pack the cost cant be beat i wouldnt trust my life to this product but over all its a good affordable light

Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
I love how small and light this headlamp is, but at the same time it is also very fragile. One trip in my pack and the clip that holds the lamp to the headband broke. It's definitely not the brightest light, but it's great for small things around camp or as a backup light.

Comments about Princeton Tec Scout LED Headlamp:
I loved this light the first 3-4 days of use; it was small and bright...for a while. The headlamp has a decent battery life, but when it goes, it goes. AND the batteries are expensive button batteries, so my twenty dollar headlamp requires me to carry fifteen dollars in spare batteries. Where this light shines is it's use as a camp light or tent light for reading or writing before bed. I bought a beefier light for night hiking and backpacking, and keep the Scout in my "essentials" kit as a backup.
