Cons

  • Internal tubing fails
  • Not Functional

Best Uses

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

There is an internal tube that can pull itself out of the outer tubing and then cannot be put back in making it unusable because the tube can't be reconnected to the container. I have had 2 of them fail on me.

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

Best all around hydration bladder I've found so far. Nalgene size opening makes it easy to screw on a water filter. Cap doesn't leak and is easy to screw on and off. Love the bite valve w/on-off lever. Watch out for the metal tube clip when storing. It poked a hole in my first one right off the bat.

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

I've tried both Nalgene and Camelbak hydration packs and both always leaked through either the mouthpiece or the screw-on top lid, no matter how carefully I put it on. This bladder has never leaked, not even when I leave in my backpack upside down. Plus, it attaches right to my MSR water filter, which is super convenient.

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

Great hydration bladder; I use it in both my REI lookout daypack and my osprey atmos 50. It has holes so it holds in place and is stable. Large mouth that accepts my sweetwater purifier (very important). can hang in the airspeed on the osprey. nice on/off valve along with a bite valve.

I'm a fan of the screw lids vs. other styles so my filter fits! and the holes so it can hang nicely in the pack (if your pack has holders).

Get whatever fit's your pack(s). IMHO

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

I have a Camel-Back like eveyone else, and have a hard time filling it up like everyone else! I bought this bag because it fit my water filter, and how sweet it is! The water tastes great through the tube, the other reviewer must have been drinking pond scum or something. The 2.5 liter fit my Osprey pack sleeve like a glove! The off/on valve keeps your sleeves and pants dry from that annoying drip from other bags valves. Great product, you will not find another bladder in my pack than this one!

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

Bladder began leaking the first time I took it out. I was fortunate enough to have brought a nalgene bottle as a backup, otherwise I would have spent the weekend drinking straight out of the filter. I have had MUCH better luck with my two Camelback bladders.

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

I like the 2.5 liter size which is intermediate between the Camelbak 70 oz. and 100 oz. bladders. 70 oz. is often too little for a day hike and 100 oz. is often too much. This bladder fits well in most of my hydration packs. The lid is compatible with the wide mouth nalgene bottles and MSR water filters, which is an added plus if you ever need to fill it back up again while on the trail. The material is fairly thin for the price you pay, but I haven't had any leaks yet.

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

This reservoir worked pretty well overall. The bite valve works well; it had good flow and didn't leak. It did seem a bit poorly designed though. On my first trip, I ended up with a soaked pack because of a leak from the screw-top. Unless you made a point of really screwing it on tight, you'd have a leak. Having that big opening on the side of the bag made it a bit difficult to fill all the way from a spigot or sink. It also suffered a puncture on my last trip, and although it may have just been a victim of circumstance I'm a bit disappointed to be replacing it so soon.

Comments about MSR Cloudliner Hydration Reservoir - 2.5 Liter:

All the MSR bladders use a 1/4 inch ID Vinyl tube with an inner liner that they use to help eliminate 'plastic' taste. I have replaced all mine with 1/4 inch Tygon/Vinyl tubing. If you put the tubing in warm water for a while and then put it onto the bladder fittings, it does not leak. You could also put a tye-wrap around it to secure it. You can get the bulk tubing at any scientific or industrial supply company, and most hardware stores.
