Comments about Osprey Stratos 18 Pack:
Good, lightweight pack for on & off trail day trips in summer. Capacity is limited, but enough for lightweight raingear and light fleece shirt plus the other ten essentials. Has ice axe loops. Can store hydration bladder in pack or behind the back (preferred because of limited capacity). Pockets on hip belt good for snacks, sunscreen, etc. Exterior side pockets handy for gloves and sunglasses. Stuffit pocket on back usable for wet gators and crampons. Hip belt not supportive enough to carry heavy loads, but there's not enough room for that anyway. Pack is comfortable and a great choice for a day where you only need limited gear.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 18 Pack:
Great day pack!! Ventilation is great-nothing like other packs, a space of air in between you and your back!! Really cuts down on a sweatie back ! Very nice on winter day hikes! Take off your pack in freezing temps and it's one less spot soaked with sweat. Same for summer but a sweatie back dosn't bother me as much then. The way it's curved to give air flow is the reason there is less space. But It's JUST a day pack and if you do your homework and check it out at REI there will be no suprises. Water Resivour is a little tight. Love the Pockets on the belt-Wish they would do that with their larger packs.
Perfect size day pack.Any more space your carrying to much. This is not an alpine/climbing pack.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 18 Pack:
This is a great small capacity pack (it is 18L, expect to not put much in it) but I ended up returning mine as the shoulder/waist length is not adjustable...and my torso (I am 5'9) is too long...The waist belt does not sit on my hips (closer to my ribs!) even on the M/L. This is unfortunate for a [$] pack. I would recommend it if you have a short torso, but if you are an average sized male, the waistbelt will probably end up above your bellybutton. For a similar pack, try the Osprey Talon 22, which you CAN adjust the shoulder straps location.

So stoked on this thing!!!!!What do you want to pack with you on a day hike that you can't fit in this? I just picked one up and was able stuff three full size cotton towels in the thing, with no bladder (carry a bottle or buy a bigger pack if you can't/won't) and room to spare for odds and ends!!!!!. This thing is pack-perfection for it's intended purpose and anyone who claims otherwise either can't use it due to fit, or needs to take a lesson in packing.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 18 Pack:
I use this pack when I am skiing, both downhill and cross country. It has enough space for basic extra clothes, emergency gear, food, and a hydration pack. It is pretty slim, so I can sit normally on the chairlift, and it allows me to move freely when I am skiing. I also take this pack on short day trips and it is the perfect size for all of my gear. I like the zipper pockets on the waist straps and the rigid frame that prevents things from getting smashed.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 18 Pack:
The pack comes in only two sizes. Since it has a very rigid internal frame, it is difficult to get a good fit. I returned the pack because it rested too low on my back.
If you are a perfect "small/medium", it could be a great pack.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 18 Pack:
I chose this pack to climb Mt. St. Helens. Perfect size for several layers, including fleece and wind/rain shell. Lunch slotted in on top. Fit is terrific, very comfortable, and the large hip belt pockets are great. A few minor issues: internal hydration sleeve is too small for a three-liter bladder, which means hanging it inside the air core mesh area -- thus defeating the purpose somewhat. On the other hand, a two-liter bladder will fit, but it cuts down the already quite snug internal capacity. A wider internal storage area would certainly help.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 18 Pack:
So many people recommended this pack but it was very uncomfortable for me. After a day hike I return the bag. Even the the size of the bag was right, when I was hiking it was keep pushing my head to front and I was almost ready trow the bag at the hike. Try to do all the adjustment never the less didn't work out for me.

Comments about Osprey Stratos 18 Pack:
I love this bag. The air space in the back (between the pack and your back) is great and comfortable... no sweaty back with a pack rubbing on it. The straps are padded and comfy. Overall its a great day pack for hiking around, or a day out climbing.
