Comments about Vittoria Adventure Reflective Tire - 26 x 1.75:
I bought this tire about a year ago for my hard tail mountain bike, which I use to commute to work (in city, about 5 miles each way), ride paved and dirt bike paths, and occasional gravel/dirt trails.
I'm not one to spend a lot of time changing my tires for the perfect ride in every situation, so I wanted something that leaned toward city riding but wouldn't punish me for playing in a little dirt. This tire fits that profile very well. It is smooth enough that it rolls great and feels wonderful on pavement, has enough tread that I'm comfortable in some gravel and dirt as long as it's not too steep, and is a big enough tire to handle curbs and potholes.
If you pedal hard in dirt or gravel, this tire will spin out. The only time I wish I didn't have these tires on was trail riding in a park (nothing hardcore, just a dirt trail with some steep sections) and I spun out a lot trying to get up a hill. Even that wasn't worth looking for something different though for me.
The channels also seem to work well in wet conditions, though coming from knobby tires I wasn't having a problem to start with.

Comments about Vittoria Adventure Reflective Tire - 26 x 1.75:
I use these tires on my Franken-bike (My old 90's Mongoose Rockadile I modified in December with drop bars, bar end shifters, interrupter levers, rigid Surly 1x1 fork, fenders......and Vittoria Adventure Reflective tires). Awesome tire!
800 miles since Jan 1, 2010. Commute twice a week(47 miles round trip) weekend and mid-week evening training rides, pavement to dirt/rock/singletrack (even with trail-a-bike in tow). Couldn't be happier!
And yes, OMG, I had a flat during that time. Sakes alive!...A flat?....Well dagnabit, any tire that gets a flat should be rated NO STARS, right?! No way!! Give me a break! These tires are great, are not pavement suckers and should not keep you from holding a 17-18mph commute pace on an old steel mountain bike with a rack trunk and saddlebag. Nor should they stop you from having one hecka good time when you see a dirt side trail off the paved path or when you are going to try some new trails and not sure what you will encounter.
Dragging you down to 8mph?... Hmmmmm....Better look at something else besides this tire for the problem....Installation?...Easy.
I also have a nice dual-suspension mountain bike, and a straight-on road bike as well, but I find that I just want to keep riding the Franken-bike with the Vittoria Adventures, because these tires help it be the jack-of-all-trades I was looking for. They simply let me focus on enjoying the ride. Love em!

Great tire for commuting. Just the right combo of road tire manners with fat tire comfort. I was surprised how quiet and grippy these tires are on paved surfaces, and they perform well on crushed stone paths as well. After over 500 miles of commuting use this fall, you can barely tell these have been used. The reflective sidewalls also help since my ride home is in relative darkness.

These tires are just fantastic for commuters who ride mountain bikes.
I can't figure out why all tires don't have reflective sidewalls like these. They really make a difference, because now instead of merely having reflectors on my bike frame, I've got these huge, reflective 26" circles, making me much more visible to drivers in low light.
Additionally, you can pump them up to 70 psi, which is a little more than most mountain bike tires, leading to somewhat lower rolling resistance.
If you're an urban commuter on a mountain bike, I think these tires are ideal.

if you just want to plod along at 8 mph then these
tires wouldn't bother you and they are probably as good as all the rest in this price range.

Comments about Vittoria Adventure Reflective Tire - 26 x 1.75:
I was looking for a good tire for on the trainer and settled on this tire. Even though I have worked in a bike shop for three years, I had a tough time seating this tire. As I put the wheel (with the new tire) on the mountain bike, the tire came unseated and blew. I don't know if this was a defective tire or if they are all slightly too large for a rim, but the tire that I purchased is too large and is going back to REI.
