Comments about SmartWool Microweight Bottoms - Men's:
I am in love with--no, infatuated with--these bottoms. For years I have disliked long underwear because of how hot they get. These SmartWool bottoms are a miracle: warm when out in the cold yet perfectly wearable indoors, impervious to odor, and incredibly comfortable. They have a magical ability to adjust to the right temperature, always warm enough without ever becoming too hot. I don't consider the cost as a negative: for the amount of versatile use they have provided me, the price is reasonable.
I wear these all the time, cross-country skiing, hiking, cycling, and under my jeans during the day. All without needing to change into a different pair or washing them frequently.

This stuff is magical. It does not hold the funk (I have gone a week in this stuff without smelling it up) and does not itch. It keeps you warm when wet and dries quick. Perfect for cool fall/spring hikes in the woods. In winter i toss a shell over them and cross country ski or snowboard. Maybe not ideal for sitting around in the winter but works for getting up the lift w/o cooking you on your way down.

Comments about SmartWool Microweight Bottoms - Men's:
I work on an icebreaking tug boat on and, coming from california, i was inexperienced about wearing thermals. i have tried many and with the coming of the cold in New York i feel confident that these new smart wool mico-weight bottoms are perfect for temperatures from 17 or so to 50 Fahrenheit. When i first got these i was shocked and even a little angry about how light they really were, but i decided to give them a try (with the tags on, i guiltily admit) and was shocked at how comfortable they were in all respects. I work on a cold river, yet im inside the skin of the ship often, so i can't dress to warm or i get hot when im inside and i can't dress too lightly or i get cold when im outside. Wearing these under my pants regulate the temperate perfectly, granted im exercising a lot and would not recommend them for extremely cold temperatures (i think ill save up and buy the medium weight bottoms for days with a lot of wind chill or when the temp drops below 20 degrees) or for people that are not going to be active. they do not itch (im very sensitive to "bad" wool) and actually feel good against my leg. The price tag hurts my meager budget, but the winter is long on the river and these have been a great christmas present to myself. Go Wool!
By the way im 6 foot 1 inch, 172 lbs. and i fit perfectly into the medium.

Comments about SmartWool Microweight Bottoms - Men's:
I love my midweight smartwool underwear but cannot recommend these. The fabric is too thin. I have had this pair less than a year and have not worn them much. On a recent backpacking trip, while pulling them on, my toe went right thru the fabric. After that, i began to be very careful with them but I just returned from another trip during which i put a toe right thru the fabric in the other leg. Looking to return them to REI now. Never had such problems with lightweight synthetic underwear.

Comments about SmartWool Microweight Bottoms - Men's:
I love these as a baselayer for hunting and also under a pair of shorts for winter running. I did get a small rip in the leg, but it was because I pulled them off too aggressively. I wear a large and they fit great (I have a 34" waist and 32" inseam).
