      I got this shirt for hiking but it is comfortable enough that I wore it almost daily last winter. It has held up very well although you have to be careful washing it and always hang dry.

        I just switched to wool under-layer on a snowboarding trip to New Zealand and I was so impressed with the performance of wool that I'm going to switch over other gear as I can. The wool micro layer kept me warm when needed and cool when it was warmer out. It breathes and wicks very well. The heavier weights work just as well too.

        I even used it as an under-layer for a wet-suit when I went caving with an underground river. I stayed warm and comfy the whole time.

        This is a great first layer. I just used it on a month-long trip to Africa. Had a few extended bush camps and wore this shirt several days in a row. The fit remained true to size, and I was surprised by how well the shirt repelled odor.

          I bought the Smartwool Microweight with the idea that it would be a good mid-weight wool shirt for cool conditions, but found it soon began unraveling. Lots of little holes. I took care of it well - hand washed it in Woolite, hung it carefully to dry, but it began to fit loosely and I discovered little holes after just a few regular uses.

          Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

          I love this shirt. Whenever the weather gets cool, I pull this out and it becomes my top layer as I head out to class. In camp, it's great to sleep in or wear as another layer. It's warm, and the itching is ever so slight that you get used to it in a few minutes. Truly one of my favorite pieces of clothing.
