Comments about Marmot Arroyo +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:

I have Arroyo version prior to this model, but Ihave looked atthisinthe store and it looks even better than mine witha better hood design. Wish it had a neck baffle though...
I hiked mine all over the Sierra, Lassen, Utah canyons etc for many years now and it is a supperb light weight bag. But, it is lightly built, and requires care and must be kept dry. I use the Arroyo in a OR bivy and can sleep it below its rating. The fine down used really lofts well and it is so light. My advise to anyone using down is do not use compression sacks. I actually use a larger stuff sack than the bag came with and suggest this is one of the reasons the bag has lasted so long and slept so warm on those nights I wokeup covered with frost. If you don't care about longevity, it will smash down pretty small for a season or two.

Comments about Marmot Arroyo +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:

I'm a sixty-four year old backpacker who moved to Wyoming 32 years ago to backpack and practice medicine. Since 1957, I've owned down bags that range from a minus 30 Marmot Gopher to WWII surplus goose down/feather bags. I've used my Arroyo every spring, summer and fall for almost 15 years. No regrets. I never shop for something better. I trust this bag. No rips in 15 years. No noticeable loss of loft. If it is cold and wet I might add a vest. I usually camp in a tarp. I know I'd be safe in it even in a blizzard. And you can trust Marmot weights. I use a 2/3 length Ridgerest underneath. I would recommend this bag to my best friend. I bought my son a Hydrogen but he's even more minimalist that I am. I am an REI member since 1968.

Comments about Marmot Arroyo +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:

My girlfriend uses this bag in warmer temperatures and I use it in the fall. I find it too be too warm if the temperatures are above 40, but from the rated temp to that it is perfect. The hood closes well to stop drafts and it is roomy enough inside to lay a down vest across myself and get a few more degrees out of it.

There is a zipper on the bottom that does not seem to work. This would be good for venting in warmer weather, but I'm not sure if it is meant to move or not.

It compresses quite a bit in it's stuff sack, and if needed it can be compressed even more.

Comments about Marmot Arroyo +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:

I used this bag for my entire Appalachian Trail thru hike this year. It held up to the rigors of the trail, and kept me warm in the colder weather this spring. The temperature rating makes it a great three season bag. There were no rips or zippers problems for the whole 4 months of use. Considering I have broad shoulders, it was roomy enough for me not to crush the insulation with a few layers on. Excellent bag.

Comments about Marmot Arroyo +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:

The foot room is great and makes this mummy bag very comfortable. Overall fit for 5'8" 180# was good. The hood was nice on a cold night. On the 30 degree night, I was comfortable below the waist but had to add a heavy flannel shirt to keep the warm on top. Zipper was balky.

Comments about Marmot Arroyo +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:

Just returned from Black Hills and Big Horns with this bag. Good things: packed small, very adjustable hood, warm above forty-five. Bad thing: for me (5'11'', 180 lbs), I needed long underwear and a fleece top when the temp dropped to around 40, so I think the temp rating is off.

This is my first down bag after 30 years of synthetic, so perhaps I am not the best judge.

Comments about Marmot Arroyo +30 Sleeping Bag - Regular:

This is my third Marmot bag and the other two are still in service -- one of them is nearly 30 years old!
The Arroyo is lightweight, compact, and well made, but the comfort level of 30 degrees is stretching it a bit. There has been a couple of nights the temperature has dipped below 40 degrees and I start to get chilly. I'm not opposed to pulling on another pair of socks or a fleece sweater, but it simply makes for a marginally chilly night. If I have to bring long underwear to balance a potentially cold night, I should probably buy a 25+ bag. For summer nights above 40 degrees this is a perfect bag.
