Comments about Marmot Arete +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
A nice bag for use in warmer temperatures, or cooler temps if you bundle up inside it. The hood closes well to stop drafts and it is roomy enough inside to lay a down vest across myself and get a few more degrees out of it.
There is a zipper on the bottom that does not seem to work. This would be good for venting in warmer weather, but I'm not sure if it is meant to move or not.
It compresses quite a bit in it's stuff sack, and if needed it can be compressed even more.

Comments about Marmot Arete +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
Had the Arete for about 10 months.
As a very warm sleeper, it has been comfortable down to around freezing in a t-shirt and boxer briefs, indoors at 70 degrees, and everything in between.
Was able to sleep when temps dropped way below the forecast 32F(probably into the teens) in Utah, by adding a beanie, lightweight long baselayers, softshell pants, Powerstretch top, and heavyweight SmartWool socks. Won't say it was comfortable, though.
A female friend who is a cold sleeper used it into the lower 40s, and said it was the most comfortable bag she'd ever used.
Very happy with this bag, and will strongly consider the 15F-rated(EN to 10F) Pinnacle if I need a cold weather bag for traveling.
I live in Alabama, so the Arete is now my fall/winter/spring bag, and was enough for all but a few weeks of our winter this season. Since I don't use it in summer, the Arroyo or Hydrogen probably would have been a wiser choice, but no complaints.

Comments about Marmot Arete +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
This is a great summer bag and comfortable enough I'll still use it over a decent rectangular bag while car camping. Even when fully compressed into an XSmall Sea to Summit eVent compression sack there's still more room for it to shrink. Marmot also put a nice little added touch with a glow-in-the-dark zipper pull. Unlike the other reviewer I had no problem with the second zipper to poke your feet out of.

Comments about Marmot Arete +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I used this bag for 2 night's in the high 30's, I'm a warm sleeper so I figured the 40* bag was close enough, I did add socks, fleece and light wind pants and slept great. I'm very happy with it.

Comments about Marmot Arete +40 Sleeping Bag - Regular:
I am a contractor working in Afghanistan. I recently took on a contract that is going to last at least one year with most of that being away from my base camp. I have been living out of my ruck now for 45 straight days.
The Arete +40 Sleeping Bag has been nothing less than a dream to have. I have been issued several different bags by many diffrent companies, but I finally had to go out on my own and get one myself. I am very broad shouldered and a regular bag doesn't fit me very well. So, I opted for the long version of this bag. AWESOME space and very comfortable.
Combined with the Kifaru Woobie and a silky top, I am able to sleep in temps well below freezing. Must have a sleeping mat!! The cold will come right through the bottom if your a big guy.
This bag will forever be a part of my packing list. It packs very small and is very light weight. It's almost like it's not even in my ruck. On top of that, it's very durable. All of my gear usually only makes it through the year that I am here. Then, it goes into the dumpster. Just because it's trashed. But, I see this bag lasting for serveral deployments.
I would has easily bought this bag at full price and would have still been 100% satisfied. Do not procrastinate, buy this bag.
