Comments about REI Kilo Plus 0 Sleeping Bag - Long:

I've used this bag for a few years now, usually in only my boxers which up until last weekend was ok... It got down to around 30deg and I was in JUST my boxers and I was freezing all night long, had to put an extra blanket inside to keep me warm... Kinda small for my size, mummy type bags just don't offer enough room... It's a good quality bag but don't think that it's for me anymore...

Comments about REI Kilo Plus 0 Sleeping Bag - Long:

The REI Kilo Plus 0 is my go anywhere cold weather bag and makes winter camping is a cinch. The bag has a pretty narrow design which helps it shave weight and makes it compress very well. When camping in the snow it has never been necessary to wear more than a thin base layer because this bag gets toasty. Additionally, I have not noticed any cold spots or drafts when bundled up.

As a down bag, take care to keep the bag dry at all cost. A dry-bag stuff sack can do the trick or my favorite alternative, toss the compressed bag into a tear resistant hefty bag. You'll have to be aware of tent condensation as well so do your homework and keep your down bag dry.

This is one of the lightest zero degree bags out there and a great price point as well. 5 stars for the REI Kilo Plus 0.

Comments about REI Kilo Plus 0 Sleeping Bag - Long:

The bag is definitely light weight, but it's only warm if you're lying in the middle of the bag. If you move when you sleep and end up twisted into the side of the bag (which often happens with my feet) the temperature barrier is almost gone. I end up with parts of my body sweating while others are shaking. As the other review said, you definitely need to wear socks. As long as you remain flat without your feet pressed against the bottom of the bag and the fill is puffed up, it's very warm. I haven't tried too many other down bags, so maybe it's just me and my flip-flop, fish-out-of-water, signature sleep patterns.

Comments about REI Kilo Plus 0 Sleeping Bag - Long:

I bought this bag so that I could continue camping in the fall/early winter and spring in Alaska. It packs well and is light weight and is really warm. I haven't taken it below zero yet but it kept me a little too warm on a recent snowy outing. Which leads me to believe it can handle those barely above zero nights.

Comments about REI Kilo Plus 0 Sleeping Bag - Long:

This is my first down bag, so maybe I just need to get used to the bag leaking down, but I noticed a lot of feathers in the tent after I use this bag. Other than that, it's a great bag and has kept me warm down to around 15 degrees.

Comments about REI Kilo Plus 0 Sleeping Bag - Long:

After researching for a zero bag, I found this one to have the best warmth/weight/cost ratio. Actually, nothing came close. It worked well in single digits with down booties on.

I do have a couple of reservations though. I'm too broad shouldered for this bag, and that it will get wet easily is a little disconcerting. I may give REI's -20 bag a try with more shoulder girth and weather proof shell. That one is also an unbelievable value.

Comments about REI Kilo Plus 0 Sleeping Bag - Long:

Great lightweight bag that gets the job done. The only thing that I have found just a little bit true with this bag is that it doesn't hurt to wear socks. Sometimes my feet get a bit cooler than the rest of my body in this bag. Overall its a great bag that I would recommend because of its weight, size, and warmth!
