Comments about Clif Shot Bloks:
I used to use "Sport Beans" but I started to find that they were too sweet for me. I love the shot bloks over the "beans." They aren't as sweet and provide basically the same ingredients for me. They provide a fair amount of carbs for energy for long distance runners (I regularly use in half-marathons). At the current price ([$]) they're an exceptional value! They retail in most place for [$], which is about the going rate for "100 calories." I don't like the ones with caffeine, mainly because I don't like to intake caffeine while doing long distance. I recommend the Strawberry flavor.I've only found one Con: You can't reseal the package. Each package has 6 bloks, 3 per serving. So after consuming only one serving, it would be nice to reseal the package. During training I started to wrap 3 bloks in plastic wrap, essentially creating my own "packs."

Comments about Clif Shot Bloks:
Months ago I went out and bought two of almost every brand of gel I could find in the store. With long training runs and a lot of races I get to use gels fairly often. I recommend that you personally try a few different brands and flavors to find what works best for you. My taste buds and stomach say one thing, but yours say something completely different.
Shot Blocks are a great way to get away from gels. I tried them for the first time during my first century ride, I liked them so much that two miles from the finish when I dropped my bag, I stopped and went back for them. I’m telling you, they are that good. Since then I have quite using gels in events longer than the marathon and use Blocks instead. They do not upset my stomach at all even after 7 or 8 hours of use. I have not had the chance to use them in anything longer yet but I plan to eat these during a 12 hour run and a 50 mile race coming up very soon and I have no doubt that my stomach will be ok with these. If you wondering what they taste and feel like imagine a giant gummy bear. And if you are out for a long time in the heat they don’t get gross like gels…they just get a little softer. Sometimes I get a little tired of chewing but at others its fun to give my mind something to do. I use them a little different than suggested, I eat three blocks (one serving) every 30 minutes instead of every 45 minutes.
If I had to find something to complain about I do admit that sometimes after eating them for a while my teeth feel pretty gritty from all the sugar, and that sometimes I miscount or drop blocks when I am running really far. I don’t think either of those are too awful. I love how many varieties Clif has designed, they have some with a lot of caffeine, some with a little caffeine, some with no caffeine, they even have some with extra sodium in them to help with cramps. The wide selection of flavors is also a big help during long events. My personal favorites are Cran-Raspberry, Black Cherry, and Strawberry.

I work at a kennel, where I run around for litterally 8 hours, training, cleaning, and playing with dogs of all shapes and sizes. As you can imagine, you get tired easily. I have One Shotblok an hour, and it just gives me an extra boost of energy. It's great, and tasty :D

Comments about Clif Shot Bloks:
Shot blocks are a great way to get through a long ride or run without the dreaded "bonk". The taste is not offensive (expect for the cola....yuck!)and they are not messy like gel. I always felt like I had to take the whole gel pack so I didn't make a mess. With blocks I can pop one every so often as needed. No pressure to wait for the right time or use more than desired. Definitely try shot blocks.

Comments about Clif Shot Bloks:
To me this is just another energy product. It is not quite as effective as others, but still gives you a boost. I would recommend Gu instead. It has a fairly unpleasant taste and only one pack was consumed during our Kilimanjaro climb. The only reason that I would recommend this above anything else, is that they don't freeze. It can be 40 below and you can be downing a pack of these while your friend attempts to defrost his frozen solid sport beans.
Comments about Clif Shot Bloks:
havent tried any of the flavors with caffiene (not sure how beneficial that would be since caffiene is a diuretic) but these things are good. and they seem to get the job done in terms of replenishment. they will have you going like the energizer bunny

Comments about Clif Shot Bloks:
These are great before skiing, though hard to use during races because they will freeze up and become super chewy and hard. I hard to cut them up into tiny pieces pre-race to get them down during the race, otherwise I'd be chewing them forever! Very tasty though!

Comments about Clif Shot Bloks:
This product tastes pretty good for what it is. The gels in my limited experience are hard to eat when you are in motion. The shock blocks are easy to eat, you just pop and go. I do wish they came in re-sealable packaging. The are a variety of great flavors some with cafeine and some without. It is best to try all flavors and types; due to everyones' stomach handling some products better than others.

A nice change of pace for the snack, energy bar or gel craze. Clif Bar always does a great job. The only con I have is the price, try to get them on a sale or in a quantity price break.
