These socks just don't meet Smartwool's usual quality. I wanted something I could use for work that didn't look like a hiking sock, but these socks don't fit right. They fall down and bunch up, and the seam across the toe chafed inside my shoe. I get chilly feet and sleep with lightweight socks, so I tried converting these to my sleep socks, but even then they twisted up uncomfortably on my feet. I will never order these again.

The socks are thin by design, which is a plus, as they can be worn with dressier slip on shoes to work and keep your feet warm and dry without extra bulk. I've worn them for summer hiking too and found they kept my feet very comfortable. They are ankle socks. Some people thought they were too short, but when I cross my legs, my ankles stay covered, so I am happy with the height. The pair I bought several years ago is still holding up well under frequent wear. The only con for me is they are expensive, so I shopped around for a sale.

I spent over $100 on SmartWool Cable socks for work. I have over 10 pair of SmartWool hiking and fun striped socks and love them. These cable socks are extremely disappointing. They keep slipping down my calves and/or ankles. They also are not moisture wicking. For the cost, this is upsetting. I am planning on contacting SmartWool also on these cable socks.

I wear Smartwool socks about 90% of the time, and I love the durability and comfort. I bought these socks to wear to work, and was excited to find a little dressier design. But, I really hate these socks. They will not stay up! I'm not talking about around the ankles, I'm talking about past the heel and around the arch of my foot. Crazy!

I love Smartwool socks and have worn many models for many years, but the cable socks give me blisters by my pinky toes and big toes. It's either the seams or the cable bunching up, but I have stopped wearing them with shoes as I quickly get sore. I only wear them with loose slippers at home. I won't buy them any more, no matter how much on sale, and only buy the smooth ones(though I don't even see plain color smooth crew socks, not hiking socks available).

Normally I do not write reviews but was disappointed enough with this sock I wanted to leave one. I love my other Smartwool socks so took a chance despite reading the comments in the other reviews. I too found them to fall down and bunch up around my ankle with minimal walking (a day at the office). I found they felt comfortable (not scratchy) but was annoyed enough by pulling them up multiple times, I ultimately sent them back. I would love to see Smartwool improve this sock.

I've really loved these socks for three years now. I have seven pairs in Black and wear them every single day of the week during the six-eight months out of the year that I need or choose to wear socks. They keep me warm on the coldest days and are not too warm for spring and fall days. I especially appreciate the fact that they are not too tight around my ankle as sooooo many other socks are...they don't cut off my leg circulation and that's a real PLUS! So far my first pair (three years old) is just now showing some wear so will probably need to retire it come summer. I hope these socks stay around for many years to come...I LOVE them!
