Loved these socks, but the durability is poor. It's such a shame to make socks which are not sustainable...that is, wear so quickly. I washed them by hand, took special care, as I loved them. I even tried to beef up the wear spots using wool darning thread, but the socks simply aren't made to last. Interestingly, I bought a pair of QUebec made woolies that looked similar, but have lasted nearly 3 years!

It's marvelous that SmartWool is attempting to make socks for everyday use with dressier casual shoes. However, these are not holding up well at all. They lose their shape in the wash, and mine are developing holes in the heel and toes after less than a season of wear. They're soft enough for me, and I like the cable detail, but they're still disappointing.

I bought 12 pair of Smart Wool socks as gifts and purchased this pair (along with others) for myself. After one day of wearing I had worn spots in both big toe areas! After another day, a HOLE! Somehow the construction is not right... I wear other styles, and have done so for years, with no problems. This is not a result of "too long toenails" rather a result of faulty manufacture. Don't buy these until this problem has been solved at the mill...it was a disappointing waste of money and time. Wish it could have a happy ending...but it doesn't.

I love all the other smart wool hiking socks and give them 5 stars, but these socks seem like they are poorly designed. I love how they look, but they slide down and are generally not comfortable. I wish they would go back to the drawing board and try another cable sock.

I wear these thinner socks with dress shoes. I have a brown and a black pair and I'm always sorry when they are waiting to be washed! I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a really comfy, soft, and durable sock to wear with dress shoes to the office!

I absolutely love Smartwool socks. I have worn their hiking socks for years, and I really like the Saturn stripe socks too. They are definitely worth the cost. Since I like Smartwool products so much, I decided to give the Cable socks a try for work. I was very disappointed. They fit poorly, and they actually feel kind of scratchy. I was so surprised that they are not soft like their other socks. I will probably go ahead and wear these, but I will definitely not buy any more of them.

I have a lot of smartwool socks and love them all -- except these. These are scratchy and the top band is way too tight. They are one of the few (only?) smartwool socks that is thin enough to wear with dressier shoes that doesn't have a colorful print, but they are just too miserable to wear.
