Comments about Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor:
I'd like to add to what the other reviewers are saying. This is a relatively inexpensive HRM that is simple to use (once set up). Using one button for everything is pretty easy, but the setup takes a certain amount of patience between pushing and pausing to navigate through the menus.
One great feature that nobody else mentioned is that you can use the chest strap in the gym without the watch, if the cardio equipment has the Polar logo on it. I've used it on some machines that didn't have the logo, but it still worked. This is especially nice on the treadmill if you want to set a target heart rate, and allow the mill to adjust speed or incline to maintain the rate. Very handy, and you don't have to hold the (sometimes unclean) handgrips on the mill. Great for jogging when its awkward to hold on.
My only complaint would be the wrist strap. I don't have large wrists, but I find it a little annoying to feed the strap through a double clasp. There is a catch to hold the excess that sticks out the other side, but sometimes its annoying to take off when your wrist is sweaty and you have to shove the band back through the clasp.

Comments about Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor:
I use this product to monitor my heart rate during exercise and keep my heart rate within a safe medical range. I have a pacemaker plus irregular heartbeat. My cardiologist recommends exercise but within a specified heartbeat range. This product is easily set to a low/high threshhold and alerts me by beeping when an activity registers above or below the safe range. It's the best personal purchase I've made to keep me safe and on track to improved health.

Comments about Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor:
Great heart rate monitor if you're looking for an inexpensive way to track time and stay within a targeted heart rate range during a run. Nice toggle between stopwatch and heart rate monitor by simply bringing the wrist receiver close to the chest transmitter as you run. Sweat will generally keep the transmitter moist against the skin, but may need a gel if it's cold out.

Comments about Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor:
Provides Heart Rate, Running Time and Real Time, Min/Max Range with Alarm (it beeps when above/below the range) and saves "average rate" for the exercise period. It's easy to use, comfortable to wear, the screen is easy to read and the quality of construction and material is much better than I expected for the price.

Comments about Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor:
I have been using this thing for past 3 years for about 4-8 hours a week. Just like any HRM, you have to keep the chest band tight and also have a conductive fluid like sweat or that HRM gel.
The only complaint I have about this thing is that my watch is supposed to be water resistant to 50m, but when I got the battery replaced, the repair people said that it didn't initially pass their 50m test. Despite this, I usually take the watch into the shower after I run/bike and have not had any problems.
Bottom line: Bad diving watch, Good HRM for a good price

Comments about Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor:
Since it's very linear in the program architecture you have to adapt to IT's way of operating, but once you've got it you can't help but love the ease of operation. The night light is great and that was my reason for choosing this model-just remember to enable the night mode b4 you start your run. Do the research, to get this level of features in any other brand you'll pay well over the $100 level. Use it and you'll appreciate it. It also survived my bike wipeout...Heart Rate reached 244 and this thing recorded it (I was literally in shock).

Comments about Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor:
Just one button and easy to use - but sometimes a bit too simple.
It has target heart rate zones - which seems like overkill for such a simple design. You can't pause the stopwatch - something I would happily trade for the heart rate zones.
The only real drawback is that you have to "touch" the receiver to the chest strap to toggle the display between time and heart rate, which disrupts the rhythm while running.
Also, I once went for a run and forgot to put on the chest strap. The missing chest strap left the watch unusable because it just displayed zero for the (non-existing) heart rate with no way to display the stopwatch.

Comments about Polar FS1 Heart Rate Monitor:
this is a really easy to use heart monitor...the learning curve is nil...only one button to push!...just bring it near your chest to get time, HR or elapsed time...the basics (cont. HR in, out zone is visually displayed and avg HR at end)...most folks don't need/use the multitudinous functions on most HR's...large numbers are easy to read and the compact design doesn't overwhelm your wrist...the only change i'd make is the band...their earlier models had softer and more comfortable bands...waterproof for swimming (& surfing) and the chest strap will last for 2500 hours of workouts!!! (it's also waterproof)...all in all a really dependble, easy to use heart monitor.
