Comments about X-Press Stainless Steel French Press:
At first was hesitant due to the first review I saw, but found it to be not true. The handle DOES fit inside the press along with coffee for the trip + extras. Also, although the pot gets hot, it doesn't matter since I use the removable handle only for stove placement and pouring. it is easy to turn the handle upside down and hook it in the side for placement on/off the hiking stove and removal without worry of burn. Found it very easy to use and made great coffee. The plunger makes a great seal and I can only blame the small amount of sediment on my crummy grinder (next purchase).

I use this for backpacking and motorcycle touring. It makes great coffee for two. Unlike other presses, you can heat your water right in the pot, and the pot can serve for other cooking needs. I pre-pack grounds in individual servings, and can fit the handle, four servings plus creamer and sugar along in the pot. It's a little narrow. The handle gets hot, but this is normal with backpacking stoves. Carry a washcloth to use as a pot holder!

With this I can eliminate my percolator. With less
grounds in my coffee! You will NOT burn your hands
if the handle is installed after heating water and
it does nest together nicely.Well built also.I now
have a percolator for sale.Much faster than a perc.

Comments about X-Press Stainless Steel French Press:
This thing sucks. Handle gets too hot to the touch, as in serious burns hot. Also, handle and components do not pack inside the cannister with lid intact. Go figure? Get yourself a stovetop espresso coffee maker and call it a day.

Comments about X-Press Stainless Steel French Press:
I think that it is a good addition to car camping gear. The handle does fit inside, but I found that I had to take the lid assembly apart to make it fit most easily; I unscrewed the cap to the filter rod and put it through the handle, between the two braces on the handle.
For me, the handle is sturdy when it works properly but I have to constantly bend the two bars back out in order to get the prongs to hold tightly; not a problem for me, but could be annoying for some users if this is characteristic of the press and not just of my particular unit.
Feels like it will hold up to some abuse; I like the concept of being able to put it directly on the fire/over coals in the morning.
I cannot see any internal markings for water level, but eyeballing it or using a water bottle with markings on it seems to work just fine. It is camp coffee, after all.

I got this to boil water and make tea/coffee. This doesn't fit on my MSR Dragonfly stove. The handle is difficult to fit inside, but with some jiggling, it will fit, with coffee/tea/sugar/etc. It does make great coffee, but doesn't work for me since it's too narrow. Check to see if it'll fit on your stove first before buying.
