Comments about Deuter Fox 30 Pack:
This is a great pack if you are a smaller adult or short-waisted. I'm a 5'2" woman and the adult packs were all too big or too long for me, did not fit well and were not coomfortable. This youth-size pack fits well, is comfortable and has the features beyond a casual day pack (2 water bottle pockets, gear straps, waist & sternam strap) which makes it great for day hikes, overnight or weekends.

Comments about Deuter Fox 30 Pack:
Our 7 year old son has used this backpack all summer and absolutely loves it. He can now carry all of his gear so Mom and Dad get a brake. He'll get more years out of pack since it's highly expandable.

Comments about Deuter Fox 30 Pack:
found this backpack to have good variety of pockets, straps and inserts for extended hiking trips. I especially appreciated the mesh pockets for water bottles and accessible side pockets for items such as snacks or extra gloves. the pack is also sturdy and substantial (and not particularly lightweight).\

Comments about Deuter Fox 30 Pack:
I purchased this pack for my 9 year old son for extended hikes. On the first use, I did not overload because I wanted him to be comfortable. He complained the whole time that is was not comfortable no matter how many different adjustments. After 2 miles into the hike he stopped to sit on a rock to rest, and when he got up the bottom of the pack had a hole in it. We were very dissatisfied with this product. We took it back immediately and purchased the REI Meteor pack which he loves and has never complained since day one of use.

Comments about Deuter Fox 30 Pack:
This is the Real Deal for Kids. Made just like an adults pack. My son at age 6 started with an REI Comet(Great Pack). He is now 8 and we bought the Deuter Fox 30 and Love it. Our primary use is 2 day trips. The pack weighed in on our last trip at 18 pounds. It has everthing you could think of. Lower side pockets, sturdy full lenth side pockets, Ice ax loop, treking pole loops, inner and outter top pockets, nice color and quality material. OK now lets address all those Jokers that got to have a hydration outlet. Get Over It! The pack comes with an outlet on the right side pocket. Do not use this for a hydration pocket. It is to small and will make the pack unbalanced. Do not use small bottles in each side. Makes no Sense. Get with the times and buy a hydration unit! They can hike and drink at the same time. Hands free and parent free. They do not need to ask for you to get them a drink out every 5 minutes. As a matter of fact my son drinks more water with the ease of the hydration unit (This is a good thing). Always pack water in the center of the pack closest to their back. Its usaly the heaviest item they will be carrying. The Deuter 30 pack has an internal pocket in the center up against the back and fits a 2.0 liter Camelback perfectly. To exit the hydration hose just go out of the top of the pack. This makes it easy to remove, refill, and put it in the tent at night for drinking. If you have bought the good angle tip end with shut off valve for your hydration unit, it doesnt fit through those factory outlets anyways. Dont listen to those other Gomers that suggest cutting a hole with a knife or sodering iron in your new pack. There is pleanty of hose to route it out the top. I also love the loop they put at the center inside top of the pack. All packs shoud have this utility loop.
OK now their is only 2 items that my son complained about. The shoulder straps at the top are uncomfortable. The have sewen the items at the top of the strap all the way thru and it hurts him. Next the back adjustment that sets the torso lenght is not smooth (two different heights) and is uncomfortable. Other than that he loves the pack. Great Job Deuter!
Thanks REI for being a Great Retailer. You Guys are the Best! You do it right!

Comments about Deuter Fox 30 Pack:
We got this pack for our 6 year old before his 1st overnight trip this summer and have taken it out a few times prior to the trip. The trip was fantastic and the little dude loves his Deuter. It fit well, however a tad too big on the hip belt, but that is only because he still is pretty small.
The pack offers great storage and is extremely adjustable which was the biggest selling point for us on this pack. It should last him another 8-10 years. And you can tell that the pack was built to last and will stand up to heavy use that long.
This pack sold our family on the Deuter brand and we have bought 2 more Deuter packs since purchasing the Fox 30.

Comments about Deuter Fox 30 Pack:
I bought this pack for my 9 year old grandson for his first ever back packing trip, a 40 mile hike over some very rugged terrain in the Sawthooth Mountains of Idaho. It is very adjustable, comfortable and had the room for well more than he was able to carry. It is a pack that will expand as he grows and should be good for several more years. I'm buying my youngest grandson one today.
