Comments about REI Ridgecrest Mittens - Unisex:
I tested this mitts to the limit on my ascent of Mt Elbrus this year. Weather was terrible, below freezing with wind chills greater than -30F as well as encountering snowing/icing conditions on the way up and down. The palms should be leather! They froze solid and was very hard to keep a grip on my ax. I was wearing soft shell liners (REI One gloves) and my fingers were warm enough (but not warm!) for most of the day, but only because I was constantly moving. I'd recommend these mitts for down to about 0F, below that and you'll be in trouble. My hands did stay dry.

Comments about REI Ridgecrest Mittens - Unisex:
Mittens afford as much protection as one layer of plastic wrap. My fingers remain numb even with an additional liner! These gloves have no utility during Michigan winters.

Got these mitts for Christmas and have used them for the past 6-7 days straight (back country snowboarding) and they are consistently warm and dry. Better than any other glove I have ever used.

Comments about REI Ridgecrest Mittens - Unisex:
In winter, my hands get cold! But with these mittens on I stay warm on the bike. I use these for cycling below 25F and theywork perfectly. Very nice quality too.

Comments about REI Ridgecrest Mittens - Unisex:
Bought these gloves after trying (unsuccessfully) other gloves while snow camping (building snow caves and igloos) only to have all of them leaving me cold and wet. These gloves stayed warm and dry even after a full day of building snow shelters....highly recommend.

Comments about REI Ridgecrest Mittens - Unisex:
My hands are notoriously cold in ANY fingered glove. I have used these mittens for one season and my hands have yet to get cold in them, even when wet - and they get wet a lot as I tend to put my mittens on and off a lot as I mess with stuff. I picked these up with a [...]coupon and feel that they were an excellent value.
