Order up a size as these have a very slim fit. The fabric has a nice give when climbing.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's:

These are mostly good pants. I love that they look more like real pants than any other convertible pant I've tried. Amazingly the short length was too short on me, and I'm 5'1"! The regular length is a little too long. Something else I'd like on hiking pants is a zipper at the bottom of the leg so it's easier to pull off over a boot. I still like the pant with full-leg, capri, and shorts options, and I'll wear them out.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's:

These are the best hiking/travel pants out there. Unlike most other styles, they don't rely on a drawstring waist, thereby avoiding the "cinched paper bag" look. My husband and I bought these for our trip to Grand Teton/Yellowstone. He wore his every day for an entire week! I would have done the same if I'd been able to wash them. We went from snow to 80-degree weather during our trip and I was able to wear these as shorts, capris, and pants.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's:

I purchased these in anticipation of a backpacking trip to Europe. They were, without a doubt, the worst thing I bought. First, I ordered both the gray and beige in the same size. After reading reviews, I sized up, just in case. When they arrived, even though they were marked the same size, there was a huge difference in size. The beige ones were larger, with about a two inch difference in the waist size. I figured no problem, I'll just keep the beige and find a different pair of darker convertible pants. However, when I tried them on, they were still too small! The rise in these is also very low. I would not recommend them unless you like hiphuggers, or unless you like your rear hanging out of your pants when you bend over! I returned both pairs and ordered the men's version - which is excellent! You can't even tell I'm wearing guys pants. Plus they have more pockets and more features.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's:

I have worn these while hiking and at a workshop in the Rockies. They are very comfortable and fit well (I'm a usually a size 4 at the Gap, about 5'5" and 124lbs with some curves). I like that they sit below the waist and the waistband, snaps, and belt loops are flat so wearing a pack over them is comfortable. These pants appear to be very well made and the fabric is great for use in the outdoors because it does not soil easily and actually breathes and moves quite well. The fabric is also quiet. The shorts are a good length and the pants are easy to convert.

The only thing that could be improved about these pants is that I would prefer a slightly more fitted shape around the knee so that the pants are a little more flared instead of just a straight, loose leg. I'm not sure if this would interfere with movement, but if a stretch material was added to the fabric I think the change would be a little more stylish.

Overall I consider these pants to be the best compromise between fit, comfort, function, and practicality that I could find. I would definitely recommend these as practical, all purpose outdoor pants.

Comments about The North Face Paramount Porter Convertible Pants - Women's:

These are the best convertible pants that I have ever found. I like the fitted waist these pants offer compared to other pants that have the elastic waist. I'm 5'10" with a 33 1/2" inseam and the talls were perfect. I usally wear a size 6 or 8, and did need to order a size 10 for best fit.

I love these all in one pants--shorts, capris, and pants. I bought them for my trip to Alaska and we camped and did outdoor activities. I wore them for 5 days in a row and the pants never showed signs dirt or wrinkle. I would have worn them all 12 days but my husband asked me to change. The pants are great for so many different activities. I recently bought another pair in a different color. LOVE THEM.

I bought a pair for a hiking trip and loved them so much that I went back and bought a second pair. The option of zipping off to shorts is fantastic and someone finally labeled the right and left leg to make it easy to zip back on the correct leg. This is one pair of pants that I will not leave home without!

I can wear these to work under the guise of business casual and zip off the legs for agility class after work. They have a neater, more tailored look than other convertible pants I've had.

I own 3 pairs of these... the fit is flattering without being restrictive and are the only hiking pants that I have found that aren't too baggy in the front, rear and hip area. Besides converting to shorts, these also roll up to capris and secure with tabs. That's versatility! Great for hiking and travel.
