Comments about Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor:

Great little heart rate monitor. I got it as a gift last Xmas. It's so simple to use, you probably won't even need the manual. The bpm's given are accurate and in real time. It only has one heart rate range setting, but it gives above and below range times in the summary, so it's effectively three training zones. It pretty tough and has survived some of my brutal treatment with hardly a scratch. It's also so light and inconspicous that it won't get in the way of a vigorous workout.

Comments about Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor:

I LOVE this heart rate monitor! I'm so glad the guys at REI talked me into this one, instead of the ones that take your pulse using your fingertips. Those are very inaccurate. This thing is very accurate, easy to use, and comfortable. I was worried (as a woman), that the strap would be very uncomfortable. But, it just feels like a bra strap. I don't even notice it. The watch itself is so small, compact, comfortable, and even a little cute (I have blue). All the rest of them are so huge! It's very accurate and reliable. If it isn't reading your heart beat, be sure it is damp or use the gel they sell at REI. I haven't needed to, but that's what you do if it's a problem. It takes about 10 minutes to set up the watch out of the box, and then you are ready to go. Press one button, and you're off. It will tell you what your target heart rate should be (based on entering your age), or you can enter your own target range. You don't have to look at the watch while you work out, if you don't want to. It beeps slowly if you are under your THR, and beeps quickly if you are over. If you don't like the beeping, you can turn that function off, but I love it! It would be nice if it would show the time in the corner while it is displaying your heart rate, but it has a fun feature that compensates. Just bring your watch close to the band, and it switches to the time for a few seconds, and then back to monitoring your heart rate. Kinda fun. At the end of your workout, press one button, and it gives you a summary of your workout, including how long you worked out, how long you spent in your THR zone, and your average heart rate during your workout. I haven't used the online options yet. I use it primarily to stay in my fat burning zone. It really helps me stay at the right pace, especially with hills.

Comments about Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor:

I regularly use this for working out in the gym about 3 days a week and then a healthy hike or climb about once every two weeks. This product works fine for either. It is nothing special. I had a Suunto whose belt kept breaking so I returned it for this. I preferred the Suunto's features and ease of use but at least the Polar's belt stays together.

Comments about Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor:

This monitor has been through thick and thin with me. I just bought another one because I lost it.
It is easy to use and accurate.

The only downside is the chest strap. If the battery dies you have to buy a new chest strap. Also I wish it was the higher grade chest strap...the one that you can change the battery in.

Comments about Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor:

By far the worst fitness product I have ever bought. I have used this thing for weeks and it does not even detect my heart rate. I read another review that said good for the price-NO WAY, the reason this product was created was to detect your heart rate and it doesn't plus it is not that cheap. Go for a different one.

Comments about Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor:

Well for the cost this thing does the job. It does exactly what it sais with easy to use setup functions and easily adjustable hart rate zones. The alarm is annoying. If you need to wake up at different times everyday you will need to scroll through the hole date and time settings function when setting your alarm. Early birds beware! No light on the watch. I have to use my keychain LED early in the morning and at night. All in all this is a good product!

Comments about Polar F4 Heart Rate Monitor:

One major issue I have with this watch, is that it's constantly NOT DETECTING my heart rate. I spent the first 35 minutes of a kickboxing class trying to get it to kick in. It finally decided that it wanted to detect my heart rate and did it well afterwards.

I'm sad that it doesn't have Wireless data communication that transfers data to and from a PC via SonicLink and UpLink. That was one thing I was hoping for, but did not get.

This is my first HRM and I've only used it a few times but so far it has performed perfectly. Its features are limited but thats the price range if I wanted more features I would have bought a different HRM. I havent had any trouble with it reading me at all. It was very easy to set up as well.
