Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
Great value at [$]. Very easy to pitch, except for fly. Setting tension on the fly, so that it stays clear of the tent and doesn't restrict breathing is difficult, especially at head and foot. Woke up with wet feet twice, on a recent trip.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
Maybe its just that tent technology has advanced since my last tent, but I found this tent foolproof to set up, including the footprint and rain fly. You can't get it wrong and I found adjusting the fly tension very easy. I had essentially no condensation inside the tent (all on the fly). It was plenty warm with just one person and a backpack inside during a rainy night. Very easy to pack up and light to carry.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
This tent had been first tested at Joshua Tree in November. It was easy to set up, it was roomy inside for one (would be cozy for two), and had plety of room to strech out for six-footer.
It took a second trip to Anza-Borrego, and that is where the fault of this tent came to light. All of the above applied, but while out on a day hike, the winds hit 25 to 30 mph, with 40 mph gusts. The tent held well and all looked fine, until I looked inside the tent. Because the mesh comes so low on the tent, the dust that was flying in the air went under the rainfly and coated everything inside with a fine layer of dust.
Since it is a non-freestanding tent, changing the tent location in the winds was not really an option.
Other than that, it's a great tent, but it is being returned for a freestanding tent with mesh placed higher on the tent. Lesson learned.

We were able to fit the two of us plus our to labs in the tent. This tent also keeps the body heat in very well as long as you use the rain fly.

I didn't know that this is not a free standing tent. It takes forever to setup, and if you don't get your stakes well into the ground the fly will come off.

This was/is my first backpacking tent. Been using for a couple years now. Easy to set up and I love having a vestibule on either side. I've gotten compliments on this tent.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I only used this tent once in cold climate (around 30-40) and this tent kept us warm throughout the cold windy night. It was perfect for 2 person to sleep in, though it was tight in space. Technical hiker who is looking for lightweights with durability should get this tent. One problem was there wasn't any instruction how to put the tent together, that being said, make sure you figure it out before you head out to the wilderness.

This tent is awesome!! No problem with the set up. I got it at a used gear sale very very inexpensive. I would have preferred a freestanding tent but there was no way I would have passed up this tent. Plenty of room inside, good for one or two people and my dog (small dog).

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I used this tent last weekend in the Yosemite backcountry. It was cold at night (in the high 20's) and rained several days. The tent held up well in the weather and kept us dry. It's extremely easy to set up, which was very helpful because we needed to get the tent and fly up quickly to stay dry once it started raining. I'm glad I bought this product.
