Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:
Dry in a hard Sierra storm at 10K ft. Just tall enough to sit up in to change your clothes. Open to the stars but not the bugs when used without the fly. Condensation could be an issue due to a very complete fly. This is a bargain that makes me wonder why the others are 3 times the price.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:
These are great tents. It is the same set up as an MSR Zoid 1.5 at about .25 of the price. I have (and love) both the Alps and the MSR tents.
I'm 6'4" and I have plently of room for myself, my gear and my dog in this tent. Not sure what the above post carries but... I've cooked under the vestable without trouble.
I hiked the AT in the MSR version then got the Mt. Alps. It sheds water, wind and snow. Buy this tent if you are looking for a 1 man tent that is good and will not cost you your paycheck!

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:
First off for any real "minimalist" this is a fairly spacious tent. [...] The door does take some getting used to. I've slept in this tent in hard rain and snow and it does a great job, though getting in and out and packing up can be a problem with doors open (rain and snow get inside). I am 6' even, and have enough room to be fairly comfy with my 80 ltr pack to me and about a foot of extra storage at my head or feet. Enough head room to roll sleeping bag up inside. Vestibule is large enough for smaller pack than mine, but could certainly be larger. [...]

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:
-Door located on the side where your head goes. You're either forced to enter feet first (difficult) or to spin around while inside the little thing. I'm 5'10, not a huge person, and that doesn't work well for me.
-Cramped, no room for gear inside, the vestibule is ridiculously small, and my toes get cramped against the roof of the tent.
-Sufficiently Sturdy. I camped out on top of a windy mountain in the Smokies and didn't have any trouble.
-It is cheap, light, and dry, all nice...but spend the money and get something with a better layout.

Comments about Alps Mountaineering Comet 1.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I purchased this for motorcycle camping. The model I received had the door on the front not on the side, looks more like the Mystic 1 on Alps site. Packs very small, so tent and poles fit easily into one side of sport bike saddle bags which struggle to fit anything longer than 16 inches. First night out, poured down rain and woke up in a puddle which had been camaflouged by camp host raking the site. Literally only a few drops got in at the floor seam on the side which was under water, so can't complain. Vestibule is a little small in the rain but would be ok if weather were nicer. I had to pull my tail bag into the tent to keep dry, but had plenty room on either side or sleeping pad to store the tail bag in the tent. While I wish I had more space, the fact that this tent fits in a saddle bag was key for meeting my needs. I am 6'1" and use a long sleeping bag and had plenty of length.

Nice tent well worth more $. I am 6'1" and had a nice night in it in rain, then pouring freezing rain. Not a lot of extra room, but a full 50lb pack is doable.
