Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Chicken Cashew Curry - 2 Servings:

Easily enough for two people. We brought extra cashews to add to it. Bonus. It also helps to add a little fresh ground pepper. I know it's backpacking but you need to have a few luxuries in the back country right? Overall pretty tasty and it is part of our rotation.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Chicken Cashew Curry - 2 Servings:

Please, do yourself a favor, buy something else. I bought this on the recommendation of REI staff, who normally are spot on, but this was horrible. This was my first time trying Backpacker's Pantry, and it is also my last. Following the directions to the letter, the water did not absorb, and even if it did, the flavor was just terrible. I enjoyed my ramen noodles MUCH more, that cost 20 cents, which is rather sad. A couple others in my group had other Backpacker's Pantry meals, and only one struggled through to eat it all. The others did like I did, and fed it to the fish. The ones with Mountain House enjoyed their meals a lot more, or so they said.

Was trying to branch our from Mountain House and saw this at the store. It was watery. It was bland. The dominant flavor was of celery--it is loaded with it. It was easily the worst meal I've had on the trail in my year plus of backpacking. I am relieved to see that so many people agree with me. I can't speak for the other meals in this line, but stay FAR away from this one!

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Chicken Cashew Curry - 2 Servings:

While this meal tasted okay, it was kind of dry when following the directions. The worst part was I used my cook pot (GSI Minimalist) to rehydrate the meal and it left an awful aroma in it, that night a critter of some sort chewed on the pot, and my coffee tasted like cajun the next day.

I tried it at home( altitude 300 ft above sea level) to experiment. It smelled like medicine e.g smell that comes from Kirkland multivitamin bottle.Taste was dry. It may have tasted better with some sauce but medicine smell was overpowering.I do not know how other packaged food from backpackers pantry or any other brand taste as this was the first packaged food I tried, so I can't give any comparison. Besides, It is too much amount in one pack. It will be nicer to have a pack with amount of food for one meal for one person. Up side:- It is very easy to make and no cleaning dishes after if your eating straight from inside the pack

This took too long to prepare; I let it sit the required amount of time, but it was still crunchy. The taste was not very good and me and my son had a hard time getting it all down.

Comments about Backpacker's Pantry Chicken Cashew Curry - 2 Servings:

I actually like this product. I find it tastes fine when out on the trail and it has a high number of calories compared to the amount of sodium when compared to other comparable foods. Still, it is what it is, and it can be watery and may take longer to cook at elevations over 10,000 feet. My recommendation is to add half the hot water to the bag to begin cooking the dried food, and then before you go to eat it add the last half. That way your food will be warm or possibly even hot since cook time can be long and it tends to get cold in those thin bags.

My wife and I tried out four different Backpacker Pantry meals on a recent trip, and this was not one of the better ones! The curry flavor was bland and uninspiring, and the overall effect was lackluster and barely edible. It was a challenge for us to finish the bag, and if we weren't down to our last meal on the trip (and last bit of food) we'd have fixed up something else and packed out the leftovers. The general consensus was that this has a ways to go to catch up with military issue MRE packets, and that is not a compliment by a long shot.
