Comments about Necky Manitou Kayak:
This is one sweet boat! Even though with its length it is technically a recreational kayak, this sucker is truly a small sea kayak. Personally, I find it extremely stable for a more high performance ride. It tracks beautifully. If you put it on edge, it carves very nicely. There really isn't any advanced maneuver that this kayak isn't capable of. If you buy the regular model, you can order adjustable thigh braces for some true high performance. From large rivers and lakes to the ocean, it does very well. I've had it out in 5 foot swells, high winds, etc... it doesn't shrink from the task. It even does admirably well at keeping up with full sized touring boats. Just don't try to race them ;) I love it in rock gardens. I special ordered mine in blue. Overriding point: This is an awesome boat!

Comments about Necky Manitou Kayak:
This kayak is very versatile and fun. I can be used on lakes and rivers that flow moderately. It turns easy and can track well if you concentrate on your strokes. A little tippy at first, but it is really stable once you get used to it. Nice beginner kayak.

Comments about Necky Manitou Kayak:
This is my 2nd kayak to buy, and it was a big upgrade from my pelican 120 fishing kayak. i just took the manitou down a 44 mile, 3 day, excursion down the Brazos river. i loved everything about the boat. the dry storage was actually dry! There were 5 other guys with me and this boat was so much faster they had a hard time keeping up. this is a great entry level kayak.

Comments about Necky Manitou Kayak:
I am relatively new to kayaking, and I purchased this boat with the intention of using it to get to hard-to-reach fishing spots. I have actually used it more for day tripping and camping, however. It is light enough that I can load it on my 4-Runner unassisted, and it is easy to take it out for just a few hours or a day. I have even gotten a whole week's-worth of camping gear and food into and on top of the boat, though that is certainly pushing the boundaries of its intended uses. It is durable and relatively maintenance-free, always a plus. I was also able to keep up with friends in sleeker, longer sea kayaks. Perhaps they were being kind, but the boat performs very well.
I wish there was a little more dry storage; even a small day hatch in front would be nice, but a deck bag suffices. And the rear hatch cover is an absolute bear to put on. The trick is to sit right down on the deck behind the seat and slowly work the neoprene cover towards the stern. Guess that's the price to be paid for dry storage on a Necky boat.
Overall, a much more versatile boat than what I expected.
