Comments about Garmin Forerunner 301 HRM:

AMAZING there is nothing I would change and the software that it comes with (GTC) really helps analyze and take your runs into an in-depth look. Also, if you create a free account with Motionbased.com, you will be able to analyze your workouts even deeper than you ever dreamed possible. If you want you can go check out the site as a guest. Overall, great product, no problems, not bulky like others say, fits fine on wrist, battery life is longer than the memory of an elephant, HRM (Heart Rate Monitor) works great. Being an avid Cross Country/Track Runner it is very important to have a device that functions right and proper and can take my training to the next level and this 301 did exactly that and more.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 301 HRM:

I purchased my Garmin Forerunner 301 HRM from [...] and it is the most awesome piece of equipment I have seen to date. Very user friendly, My wife uses it with no problems. Bundles and bundles of features. Comfortable to wear, and large screen that is easy to read while running or biking or whatever. The only downsides I see is it will not interface with my laptop Garmin or Microsoft Streets and Trips software to be used as a gps locator. I wished it had that feature. I also wished it was totally waterproof enough to use in my swimming leg of the triathlon. If those features are not needed by you, I would highly recommend purchasing one, you will not regret it. [...] and Garmin are both awesome companies to do business with too.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 301 HRM:

I got the Garmin 301 for X-Mas and it a simple and intuitive product. The 305 series are more sport specific respective to running and cycling- but you can't beat the versatility and price of the 301.

You have to download and install the Training Center Software- it is this feed back mechanism that provides the most addictive pleasure for this training aid.

I enjoy how the Garmin can ensure you ride at your target training zone, the post ride analysis, and the automatic annual summation of training effort.

For the recreational rider and/or sports enthusiast just a fun way to quantitatively document your outdoor cycling, running, other experience and/or compliment your training.

The battery life is great, extremely rugged.

Biggest CONs are that it is too bulky to wear comfortably on the wrist- I found wearing on arm more comfortable AND switching between bike and wrist wearing mode cumbersome. If you cross train- easier to keep as a wrist watch and just strap garmin onto handlebars then use the bike mount.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 301 HRM:

Wish it were more feature rich. If you go into diagnostics mode it shows the temperature!! You cannot get that in any of the standard screens. Too bad. The unit is extremely durable, easy to use, waterproof and fits my use perfectly. It accurately tracks my hikes, running and cycling. I wish it offered a little more features in the navigation portion, longer waypoint names, temperature and some altitude graphing features.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 301 HRM:

Best product for training available!! Now I do not need a heart rate monitor on one wrist one computer for my mountain bike and one for my road bike. I can track all my running data too. I have used it on hikes and on travel. My wife has started running and will not go out without it.
Training is also more fun because I no longer have to guess how I'm doing, it maintains all of that data for me.
The only bad thing about 301 is now I have to buy my wife one.

Owned it for over 2 years. I love it. I want to upgrade to use the cadence features on the newer models. No major problems, as long as you upgrade the software and remember to download your information. GREAT tracking tool and training tool. I ride my bike about 3,000 plus miles a year.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 301 HRM:

I love my 301 for running. I have only been distance running for about 2 years and was always bad in trying to figure out pace and distance. This took care of all of that.
There are times in the trees or tall buildings that I lose signal and I had to send the unit into Garmin to fix the heart rate monitor but their customer service is great and I haven't had problems since I got it back.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 301 HRM:

I really like my 301-- my only reservation is the accuracy of the mileage when I mountain bike. It seems to short change the mileage especially if you ride a really twisty trail. My guess is the GPS samples your position and calculates the straight line mileage. That being said-- it gives you a whole bunch of data that is really fun and useful to see after you ride and upload to your computer.
