The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Best Desert Hikes: Washington:
This is a wonderfully accurate, informative book clearly written and illustrated by two local experts who know and love eastern Washington. The route descriptions are exceptionally accurate, informative and fun.
The previous reviewer complained that directions to trails were off, and sometimes they are. But that's too be expected. Like many guidebooks, some of the trailhead directions are dated -- roads change, landowner permissions come and go, etc. But because books stay on shelves for years and years, those changes aren't reflected in their pages. The Juniper Dunes route is a great example. I've hiked that MANY times, but only in the few years has the road access to the wilderness been lost. Land owners who got sick of the yahoos on 4-wheelers ripping around their property by way of the access roads put a stop to the hassle by closing their PRIVATE roads to ANY public use. THat means there is NO PUBLIC ACCESS to the Juniper Dunes Wilderness now. But that's definitely NOT the authors' fault -- the access was there when the book came out. Which just proves that even the best guidebooks must be supplemented by a THINKING READER. Use the book but they go online and get the LASTEST INFORMATION before heading out on a planned hike (and don't bash the book authors because things changed after the book was published! That's simply unfair and stupid!)

Comments about Best Desert Hikes: Washington:
I'm from Eastern Washington and was very excited to see a book about this side of the state! The beauty of the desert is seriously underappreciated. But this book seemed like it was written by someone who heard about the hikes from someone who heard about the hikes from someone who heard about the hikes from someone who heard about the hikes from someone who actually went on them. Misadventures include being directed down a private road with a HUGE No Trespassing sign in an attempt to get to the Juniper Dunes Wilderness, looking for a non-existent trailhead by White Bluffs (although eventually we found where we were going) and other similar confusions. The destinations themselves are beautiful and worth going to, but it's so hard to find them!! This book needs a major re-write.
