Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I am an archaeologist and I wear these boots daily. I have walked over 500 miles in the last three months, over basalt, rhyolite, sand, obsidian, and lots of mud! The boots are holding out strong.
I have a normal sized foot, maybe a bit wide. The boot takes about three ten mile days to properly break in and when it is done "its like butter."

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
This boot came highly recommended. Good feel but not great out of the box. I have big feet and long toes. The toe box was good height but the outside shape of the toe box turns inward too sharply for me causing my second and middle toe tips to touch, especially down steep descents. A larger boot would have been the wrong sized last and would not hold my foot in properly. Ultimately this boot just did not hold me right. Signs of early wear under ball of foot and along the heel; way too soon. Donated them after a few months - just not worth keeping and having them hurt my feet. May be an okay boot for less demanding use and people with average sized and shape feet.

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I have been trying to wear these boots out for nearly four years, with no luck. In 20 years of climbing and backpacking, I have blown out more pairs of boots than I can count. But these workhorses can not be destroyed. They don't even flich at a heavy load (I weigh 220 lbs and often carry a 60+ lb pack.) I have put in well over 500 miles of hard trail through extreme environments ranging from the Amazon jungle to the high passess of the Andes and Himalaya, and they simply continue to perform without fail. I can't imagine what more one could expect out of a pair of simple hiking boots. They just keep going, and going...

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
It seems in previous posts there is a mention of slippery soles. The sole by vibram is a little hard but I am sure it will wear longer as compared to a softer sole which has better traction on slick surfaces. I have a small volume foot and it seems like this boot is a little large in the heel pocket for the same size in my past vasque boots but like the room in the toe box area.I like the lack of too many seams on the outside of this boot which seems to be point of failure on some boots. I have a pair of Asolo Flames which have too many decorative seams and different colored decorations on the sides. Love the Asolo Flames but think they are being made more for looks and street wear rather than thier purpose in the tough muddy world of outdoor hiking. I have in the past always been satisified with Vasque boots and am sure these will give good service also.

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
Day hikes (10-20 miles )CA Coastal Areas, Mountains, Snowshoe. Late Spring Packed Hard Snow. Backpacking. Worked well in Utah Rocky Terrain. Good urban hikers. CON: Wet granite. Problem with almost all boots. Suggest wearing short gaitors to keep out sand and dirt which erodes gore tex and later leaks. (Next pair I'll always gator up in sand or Sierra Terrain). Worked great with backpacking snow shoes. Combined with REI Sock liners and REI hiking socks and green superfeet, never a blister. Some hot spots but mainly due to hot weather. Upgrade from Clarion model. Versatile for all the different terrains I encounter except wet rocks. Again I can't find any boot to handle wet slick rocks. Always exercise care. When Fishing I switch to teva aqua socks and when crossing streams. Plus these provide light weight camp shoes after a long hike as well as for swimming safety (jagged rocks etc.)

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I bought a pair of these in December 2007 for a long distance hike through the desert and have been wearing them ever since. I initially resisted the purchase, partially because of the quality of the competition (Zamberland, Asolo), and partially because the Wasatches' qualities are very subtle (plus, its always tough to part with [$]). Ultimately, though, the comfort, support, and potential versatility of these boots won me over. Today, 2 years (and several sets of laces) later, I'm still in love: I work in them, hike in them, backpack in them, and go out in them, and I honestly don't have a single worthwhile complaint to make about them. If you want a pair of boots that can take you anywhere and everywhere for the next 2 years, I think you've found them.

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
I love Vasque boots. They fit me perfectly, and that's probably the biggest reason I love them- alongside their sturdiness and longevity. I wear 13 shoes and Vasque 13 boots fit GREAT.
I started with the Clarion boots. This time I replaced them with these boots.
They fit my fairly wide feet perfectly. Most other shoes are narrow around my toe box and toes. These are the best fit. I usually don't wear "wide" sizes (this depends on maker, of course), so it's nice to know the Vasque shoes and boots fit consistently.
As noted above, I'd say these boots are best for wet and cold, since they are pretty thick and waterproof. I have not yet tried them in the summer, but I suspect I'll wear them at the worksite and yardwork stuff.

I wasn't sure what to expect with these but I have put many many miles on these boots and they still feel as good as the first day I put them on. I wear this boot 4 to 7 days a week. I'm very pleased with this boot and will purchase another pair when I finally wear these out. I didn't think I could find a really good, stable, supportive boot with really good traction on slick rocks for less than [$] but Vasque proved me wrong.

Comments about Vasque Wasatch GTX Hiking Boots - Men's:
Took these boots on many dayhikes plus 2 weeks worth of 1-3 day backpacking trips in NM. They are good boots, comfortable with good ankle support. The Gore-tex mostly works. However, after an hour in slushy snow I end up with wet socks. Is there any boot in which I wouldn't?
