The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
Hiked 6 miles of high alpine terrain in. Climbed Water Ice for 6 Hours. Hiked 6 miles of high alpine terrain out. These babies performed BEAUTIFULLY! It was my first time wearing them! My feet were NEVER sore, NEVER cold (we had snowy approach!) and NEVER sweaty!! The rubber was sticky enough for some steep tallus. They fit and worked well with the G14 crampons. Love 'em and I'm picky! Now go climb something!

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
Comfort level high, no blisters with this boot! Did well with heavy loads, great grip on wet surfaces, ascending/descending on granite with water flowing down. Performed great on dry alpine, talus, scree, secure foot plants in snow with/without crampons, great ankle support, feet stayed dry in the rain. First gripe: before my feet touched snow, they were freezing early summit morning and spring snow conditions proved to be a challenge for these boots even with gaiters on; major post-holing. My feet were soaked, cold and not happy. Second gripe: the Gortex fabric doesn't hold up, after 3 backpacking trips (12K'- 14K') they already are wearing out on the outer side of the boot, near the small toe. For the price of this boot, I would expect the wear to last longer. I'd only recommend this boot for any condition other than deep, wet snow conditions.

Mountaineering, including talus slopes, scree, ice, snow. Used them for some Class 5 peaks, never having to change into my rock climbing shoes.
These are really comfortable on many different types of terrain. All of my epic 12 to 15 hour days have been in these boots and my feet are consistently happy.
They hold crampons well; I have no hesitation wearing them on ice routes.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
I bought these boots for a month long trip on the Northern Patagonian Icefield. I wore them for the hike up through the muddy and boggy trails in the rainforest, through the melting snowfields, and up and around the glaciers. Along this trip there were epic downpours, snow showers, and warm clear days, and every day I was happy with my Trangos. The best thing about them is that they are light, and because they are a single boot they are not bulky, but still offer decent warmth and water resistance. They are nice and sticky when on rock, and are pretty comfortable, I just duct taped my heels every other day, and was set for the whole trip. I would hesitate to wear these during the winter, because my toes got cold on snowy days. While my feet stayed drier than my climbing partner who was wearing plastic boots, they did get wet during downpours, even with gaiters and my alpha pants. However, when I slipped knee-deep during a stream crossing, my socks were only damp when I got to camp. They are pretty waterproof, but water seems to seep in from the tongue. Definitely wear good gaiters with these puppies, and they won't disappoint. Bottom line, fantastic for summer mountaineering, and crazy durable. Click that "add to cart" button.

These fit great and go from dirt to snow to crampons. They've been in rainstorms, whiteouts and deep snow. They dry so quickly and fit so well, I've done Rainier (east and south) as well as Jefferson with these. Versatile. BUT the seams are totally falling apart where the Gore-tex meets the rubber - all around the toe area and the fabric around the ankle on one shoe only is shredding to bits. So, great...for about a year. A lot of money for a year.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
Figured I'd better give my two cents after a full season on these. Especially since I depend heavily on other's reviews for any gear I buy.
My feet: high arches, size 9, very narrow, and about everything wrong with them that can be. **I could only stand these boots after putting in the Ed Viesturs high volume foot-bed.
Trango boots: PERFECT for mixed routes. Sticky enough for solid bouldering (perfect on Thielson, Broken Top, Washington, etc...) Stiff enough for extensive glacier, and toe-in- only ascents. Water proof enough for all day snow slogs. GREAT ankle support. Easy to lace tight when needed, ease up when needed. They still work great while carrying a 60lb. load. Absolutely love these. I'd comment again, how impressed I am with their bouldering abilities-usually a climbing boot feels like a giant block on your foot, while these feel "narrow" in the toe-ie you can feel your toe-holds.
Cons: the vibram soles are not holding up very well and I have to wonder if they'd do well in granite or limestone scree. The rubber on the toe is starting to de-laminate. Also they do not dry out quickly (as in over night in your tent.)
I've climbed most of the Cascade volcanoes in these and love them after putting in the Ed Viesturs footbed. Tried Superfeet, but they didn't cut it.
I've tried hiking the whole day in them-(usually in the past, took approach shoes for everything but above tree-line) and I love them enough that I may get another pair for my work boots (yah, I get paid to hike!)
Just haven't tried them with my Grivel crampons yet, nor do I know yet, how they'd hold up in a week of rain or wet snow. Love them so far.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
I've used these boots for three seasons of alpine climbing in the Cascades. They are very comfortable for my hard to fit feet (wide in front, narrow heels, high volume arches). I went up about a half size and put in footbeds and they fit great. So light I would almost rather wear them than approach shoes. I've done plenty of rock climbs - good edging. O.K. on summer glaciers unless snow is wet and sloppy. From the very first they were NOT waterproof and I've suffered from cold feet. I would not recommend for multi-day glacier trips. I have climbed Baker in them, but in summer conditions and only out 1.5 days. I would not use them on Rainier. These boots are great under the right conditions, but you need a second, more waterproof and better insulated boot to handle cold, wet, snowy conditions.

Easy to keep dry with gaiters, even on slushy Mt Baker snow in July. Felt warm as toast on Cascade alpine trips but still would wear on regular backpacking trips - just make sure you wear mountaineering socks because the boot burn on my shin took over a month to heal. The heel stop for my crampons seems like it should have been deeper, because I did have some issues with my Grivels coming off. Test it out with your crampons before going out on a highly committing trip.

I so wanted to love these boots, I tried for a couple of years, but everytime I used them I came home with blisters on my heels. The times I used them with crampons, my experience was a lot worse. They tore my heels up! I bought these boots for mountaineering and extended climbs where I might need to use crampons, I liked the versatility of this boot. I used them on some of the highest peaks in Washington.
They also put my feet to sleep. I tried to isolate the lower laces by tying a knot half way up so they wouldn't tighten up too much on the top of my foot and therefore not put them to sleep, but no luck on isolating the lower laces.
I wear a size 7.5 and I have very average size feet, I do not have high arches or chubby feet.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S EVO GTX Mountaineering Boots - Women's:
I purchased these boots based on the reviews I read and I was extremely elated to have done so. I used the boots first on a short hike on the Appalachian Trail (rugged, rocky, and muddy) the hike was about 5 miles (not enough to break them in) but the boots did well. The next opportunity I had to use these boots was for the 7 day trek through the many terrains of Kilimanjaro (lots or rain, mud, scree, boulders, wet rocks, snow, etc). The boots held up marvelously! It wasn't until the last day when I decided to change my Trango's out for a "lighter" pair of boots that I realized what a dumb mistake that was. For the 6 straight days that I wore the boots, I did not get hotspots, blisters, pain, and even twisted my ankle with no injury; when I switched boots, I walked about 2 hrs and got blisters under the bed of my toenails and lost both toenails! Very great boots. They are warm, dry, cool, and comfortable, not to mention chic!
