Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow - Large:
I pack pretty light but there are a couple things I don't skimp on. One is a pillow. I've taken this pillow to hostels in 15 countries. You just can't beat it. This pillow has also been to Yosemite, the Colorado River, The Appalachians, Death Valley, and most recently, camping in the Florida Keys for 6 days.
There are some things you need to know about this pillow to get it to work right. First, you have to keep it fluffed whenever you aren't packed. Secondly, you have to keep it clean. It's kinda hard to wash because the little spongy foam chunks inside fill with air and you really have to hold under water like you're drowning it to get detergent to penetrate it. Then, you REALLY have to make sure it dries before you re-pack it.
If you follow the directions it's a great pillow. I have a down camp pillow and I never use it. It was much more $$$ but never fluffs up like the Thermarest.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow - Large:
I'm glad I made room for this pillow even though I was packing light on my last 3-week trip in Africa. This was much more comfortable than almost all of the hotel/train pillows and was great for the plane and bus rides.
I was slightly disappointed when I received the pillow because it wasn't fluffy and had big chunks of foam. However, after breaking apart the chunks and letting the pillow "inflate" for about 2 days, it was fluffy. I usually use a memory foam pillow and this was a good substitute. Even after compressing it for travel, it re-fluffed quickly. I took a pillow case so that I could wash it along the way. My only complaint is that the drawstring is getting frayed after about 40 uses.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow - Large:
In my opinion this product does not measure up as a pillow - It is on the thin side and very lumpy with chunks of foam inside it. I would never use this as a pillow, I would roll up my jacket or vest and sleep on that instead!

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow - Large:
I have trouble sleeping without good neck support. The ThermaRest pillows ahve been great for several trips now including winter conditions. I have tried other compact pillows but this product has worked the best.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow - Large:
I ordered every single backpacking pillow on [...] and tried them out. This one was the most comfortable of all of them, AND it came in some really cute prints that made me happy. It packs up super small into itself, and expands automatically when you open it up. I went ahead and got the biggest size because it packed up so small. Works great with my Big Agnes sleeping bag's pillow pouch (which you should also check out--the Big Agnes sleeping bag, I mean.)

[*] this pillow is comfortable! I wish I had a sleeping pad that was as comfortable as this little pillow. I almost used it at home after the first time I used it on a backpacking trip. You will sleep like a baby with this little guy.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow - Large:
I actually have the medium size, which is only a little smaller than this. This is great for sleeping on the plane, much thicker than the airline pillows. It rolls up quite compact, and tucks under the bungee cords on the outside of my carry-on backpack. I've also used it for car camping. For the critics, you just need to fluff it up a bit after unrolling, it will soon be quite plump.

Unfortunately, this product doesn't live up to the expectations created by the packaging. It packs up small, but doesn't unpack into the full, plump pillow shown in the photos.

Comments about Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillow - Large:
Pillow is very comfy, and compresses down to about 30% of it's total size. I went for the large, as the small and medium aren't all the much smaller when compressed. Great to stuff in your carryone for flights as well.
