The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about OnGuard Doberman Cable Bike Lock - 12mm:
The bike lock seemed like it would get the job done, it was one of the ticker ones that I could find. I was wrong. I parked my bike on campus at around 4ish and by the time I got back to my bike I found that the cable was cut. I guess something scared of the would be crook because my bike was luckily still there. I will definitely look for something even thicker now and probably accompany it with a U-Lock too.

Comments about OnGuard Doberman Cable Bike Lock - 12mm:
I have never actually parked my bike on the street, just inside my building at work. I lent it to a friend overnight, and that night it was cut clean through and her bike stolen. This was between 4-7pm at quite a busy location on campus. It obviously did not provide much resistance to a thief at all. I have seen other signs around by people who have had their bikes stolen while using a cable lock. Don't do it, buy a U-lock.

Comments about OnGuard Doberman Cable Bike Lock - 12mm:
I bought this lock a year ago for use on my daily commuter bike. Off the bat, I was glad to see that it came with multiple spare keys, which was a slight concern since I broke the key to my old lock. My second observation was the mounting bracket. It is an interesting design that can even be mounted to your top tube without touching the shift/brake cables but it did not stay in place as well as I wanted and the locking mechanism to keep the lock in the harness was worthless. It was impossible to put the lock on it with one hand and the harness did not keep the lock secure, despite the presence of the locking tab. At the time of purchase, the lock was not oiled and was VERY difficult to force the bolt in with the lock in the locked position. Oiling helped this, but it was still stiff due to it's design. It also appeared that the bolt catch was chipped but I believe this was an intended design for strength.
After 1 year of daily use and weather exposure, the lock has approached the state of unusable. I only use one key so the others are hard to use and the lock tends to stick (not a fault of the lock really, this will happen with every type of lock including residential and commercial doors) and after the last rain storm (my bike is parked outside, unsheltered) the lock became extremely stiff to release the bolt. The problem persists even after constant oiling with 5W30. The cable will become stiff in cold weather, but it has never frozen up and always returns to normal within a few minutes.

Comments about OnGuard Doberman Cable Bike Lock - 12mm:
I purchased this to lock up my new bike. Unfortunately, it didn't take a bike thief long to break through our bike cage and break through two of these cable locks. Trust everybody when they say U-Locks are the way to go. Now my bike will be protected by two Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit locks.
