Comments about Kelty Mantra 7 Tent:
I bought the Mantra 7 as a 2nd/used tent and have been using it as a family tent for three years now. I don't know how old it actually is. We spent 28 nights in it in just the last year in Florida and Tennessee.
Like almost all tents, a 7-man tent isn't really for seven humans. My family of four fits in it with plenty of room. We set up a queen-size air mattress/bed front-to-back on one side and the kids twin mattresses sideways on the other side. This leaves us about a foot or so to store clothes bags in front of our bed and 2 feet between us and the kids as well as 2 feet between them and from them to the front of the tent. I'm 6' and have no problem standing up in the middle of the tent to dress.
The best part of the tent is the vestibule. You can stand up inside of it with the door zipped closed and change clothes without tracking dirt and sand into the tent. I put a tarp and a couple of beach blankets down in the vestibule to catch dirt and I can store a lot of stuff that I don't want to get wet inside the vestibule but outside the tent. You can set up chairs and hang things to dry under there. And, of course, it's great to leave the shoes outside and not track stuff into the sleeping area.
I've had the tent in several torrential downpours and the last one the tent sat in water about 1 to 2 inches deep for at least a half an hour until the rain finally subsided and seeped into the ground and ran off. We sat in the beds and made shadow puppets on the walls until the storm passed. I've never had a drip in the tent and just a small amount of water on the floor under the mattresses the next morning from tiny holes. I do stake it out taut and really tighten up all the fly attachments if it looks like rain.
It's got great ventilation and I've never seen any condensation dripping either.
I recommend using a ground cloth or footprint as you would to protect any tent investment. I have the footprint and it is great as it attaches at the stake points.
You can pick this tent up erected from the back and shake all the sand and leaves to the front to be swept out.
I had a small plastic stay that holds open a vent break in the fly and sent it to Kelty and they repaired it and sent it back very quickly. Under warranty and it only cost me to ship it to them. They ship it back the same way you ship it to them. I've had great service with them.
Overall I highly recommend this tent for a family of 4 to 5. There's plenty of room inside, a ton of room in the vestibule, and it is very waterproof. The poles and attachment points are all very strongly made.

Comments about Kelty Mantra 7 Tent:
We were fed up with buying cheaper tents that leaked and required lots of setup to keep dry during even the lightest of rains. We decided to spend more for a better tent. We decided on the Mantra 7 for our 4 person 3 Dog family. With all our gear and cots it's a bit cramped but enough room to manage. The vestibule helps out with gear significantly. It's not a single person setup but with my 12 yo girl it's a snap. On a trip to Virgina Beach a realy heavy storm blew in. We stayed very dry. The tent did get a slightly bent pole from the excesssive winds but the tent stayed up and did not faulter. Once I returned home I called Kelty and explained what happened. I sent in my tent pole and they very promptly fixed it and returned within 2 weeks.. Impressive. Kelty makes a great product. If you like comfort and have 4 or less in your family I highly recommend this tent.

Comments about Kelty Mantra 7 Tent:
We had been looking to purchase a larger, quality Kelty tent for about a year, being we were fed up with the cheaper knock-offs that would only last for 2-3 camp trips and would end up in the trash can when all was said and done.
This tent is absolutely wonderful! We originally purchased the tent at the REI attic sale. We did have to purchase one new pole that was missing and replace one that was bent. Kelty promptly took care of us and send the poles which arrived within 2 weeks. The tent does take two people to set up. But the assembly goes quickly after the initial trial set-up. We did a week-long camping trip, and this tent held up beautifully. A sudden lightning storm came through with 50-70 mph wind gusts! The tent kind of flattened out into a tear drop shape and popped right back into shape after the storm had passed. It was kind of comical to watch. I went inside afterwards, and there wasn't a single leak from the ceiling, walls or floor. We have already told friends about how well this tent (Kelty) has done for us and we are sold on their products.

Comments about Kelty Mantra 7 Tent:
We set up the tent in the dark with light from a single lantern. Easy to set up, but have to work to push the poles through the fabric sleeves. The tent has good airflow, no condensation even on cool mornings. The rainfly provides a big vestibule were shoes and gear can be stowed, although there is plenty of room inside. The Mantra7 is tall enough to stand up in and very comfortable. The light color and no-see-um mesh ceiling allows the tent to stay cool even during the day. Great for family camping, car camping.
