Comments about ExOfficio Amphi Shorts - Men's:
These shorts are great! I like them so much I bought another pair. I have worn these on aggressive hiking trips, traveling, and casually on weekends. THey are very comfortable, cool, and functional. While they cost more than similar shorts made by other brands, I recommend these due to the fit, functionality, and quality that is worth the extra $.

Comments about ExOfficio Amphi Shorts - Men's:
I do anything from family camping to backcountry trips. These are terrific shorts for all of my activities. Bought them specifically for trip to the Escalante and Paria Canyon for wading in and out of 38 pools of water in Buckskin gulch. Worked like a champ. They dry quickly, didn't chafe and are comfortable as anything I own.

Comments about ExOfficio Amphi Shorts - Men's:
I bought these shorts 2 years ago to wear on a Boy Scout trip to Washington, DC. I wore them 6 days in a row (washing them out in a sink every night). They wear well, dry quickly, and the built-in underwear is very comfortable. I wear them every other day in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. I wear them at work building playgrounds, mowing the yard, fishing the river, and going out at night. I only own the one pair, and they are in like-new condition. I love 'em!!!

Comments about ExOfficio Amphi Shorts - Men's:
Super comfortable and a great fit. These shorts have a built in liner I wish all my pants had so I'd never have to wear underwear again. The zippered security pocket is great and they dry in an instant. They're a bit short for my taste (hello Daisy Duke!) so I don't wear them casually, but I don't really care what my hike/camp/outdoor clothes look like so this one is a winner. Buy some now and show off your chicken legs on the trail.
-What's with the leg straps? I don't get it.

they area as close to wearing nothing and something at the same time. So light and comfortable. I could live without the leg straps - but really no big deal - bought them at rei monday - ordering 2 additional pairs online now - i guess you could say "i'm a happy camper"

Use for backpaking and day hiking works well, comfortable and light. I am 6"4" shorts feel just a little short in stride. Still are comfortable enough to be main hiking shorts. Hve bought backup pairs.

These are super light but sufficiently durable shorts that have all the zippers and fasteners you could want. In terms of style, there are other more dapper brands, but functionally these are top of the line.

Comments about ExOfficio Amphi Shorts - Men's:
These are great all around shorts. They are particlarly good if you plan on, or think you will get wet at some point when wearing them. They dry out fast, can be washed out in the shower, and are versitile enought for multiple uses. I often take them on trips when I want to pack light. You can swim in them, run, climb, hike, just about anything.

Comments about ExOfficio Amphi Shorts - Men's:
I've owned numerous pairs of Ex Officio's over the years. I've noticed some slight changes to the belt as I prefer the newer slightly wider belt but liked the older style of buckle. The velcro rear pocket cover works well. As a couple of other readers mentioned what gives with the strap at the bottome of the legs? It is not a problem for most but for me a person with thighs measuring about 27 inches around the strap at times makes the leg openings feel tight. When I was fishing up in Canada last year - I cinched the belt so the skeeters didn't bite However, it would be nice if you could add an inch to the leg opening.
When hiking and camping I'm one of those guys that carry a lot of stuff and like to have it handy. I'd like to see the design changed to have both rear left and right pockets, maybe even add another cargo pocket to the right side as well. Another upgrade that would also be nice is add another cell-phone size pocket just below the right hand side pocket where I could put my black berry, an ipod or other gear instead of the little change/watch pocket that's sort of inside the front right pocket.
Overall, the pants are great but a little tweaking of the functionality of the pants might help make them better.
Just one hiker's opinion.
