Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
i was going to wear my patagonia water resistant pants for an upcoming 4-day back country x-c ski trip in northern maine. i'd wanted to buy these pants but figured i'd bought enough stuff and already had good pants and could save the [$]. a driving wind and rainstorm 2 days before my trip made me think about the type of weather i might encounter. so, i went and got the pants before my trip. i couldn't have made a better decision. the weather went from 2 degrees with 20mph winds to 45 degrees and raining, snow squalls and being on the back of a snow mobile. i stayed completely warm and completely dry in every condition! great breathability and great wind resistance. the pants were roomy and well articulated in all the right places.the only minor con about these pants for me was the waist/belt. i'm right between the medium and large. the large gave me better movability, but it was hard to get the velcro waist band as tight as would have liked. i had to pull the velcro belt tabs a good half way past the end of the velcro patches on the waist. this made the ends floppy and i lost half the holding surface. the belt is removable, yes, but there are no belt loops in the front of the pant to keep a belt in place. other than the belt issue the performance of the pants made it one of my best gear/clothing purchases ever.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I use these pants for hiking/mountaneering in the Cascades and for rainy Search and Rescue adventures. They hold up great to glissades and are thin but suprisingly tough. I love the side vents which are perfect for eliminating moisture which can give you those chills after summiting.
I got the 30" at first and found out that was a no-go. Im 6' 1" 145lbs (tall and skinny as hell) and the 32" Mediums are just about perfect. Usually I wear 30-34 pants but with gaiters, the length isn't too much of a concern.
As many people have said, belt loops would make these pants much better. Personally, im not a big fan of the velcro-built in belt.
Bottom Line: great pants for snowy, rainy, and/or physically exhausting activities.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I wear these every weekend for hiking in colder weather. Very durable, flexible, water resistant, and tear proof. Branches, bushes, and my german shepherd can't seem to detroy them. I wear 32" waist and inseam pants from jeans to dress and my only problem with these pants is that they are tight in the waist...almost too tight. would recommend trying them on first before buying.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
Just used these on a backcountry ski trip. We skinned up to the top. These pants worked great, I was able to vent on the way up so I wouldn't over heat. Once on the ridge we had high winds of 50+ and I never felt any breeze come through.
After bagging a peak I decided to glissade down and the pants help up.
Pros: The pants cuffs are large enough to fit over my ski boots.
I really like the pull cord that runs along the cuff, makes for a really snuck fit.
Great articulation: they were comfortable all day.
Breathable: The vents help but so does the soft shell material in the thighs and calves.
Waterproofing: The seat and knees use a 3-layer waterproofing that's bomber. After sitting on snow for lunch no leakage.
Style: I woar these out to dinner afterwards and they looked fine. Didn't look like I was wearing ski pants.
Cons: The belt. I'm not a fan of built in belts. Sometimes I want the pants tighter and I can only go so far. I'll end getting suspenders for them.
A bib model of these would be great. Or at least a pair with belt loops.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I really like these pants. Nice fit/finish, they are lightweight and comfortable and dont fall off your hips like some of the other rain/snow pants. The zippers and vents are also easy to use. I just don't want to be anywhere near a fire with these on. :)

I used these pants on a climb up the West face route on Mt. Shasta and glissaded 4,000 vertical and the bottom of the pants were still perfectly fine after.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I constantly use these pants in the snow. Side zips are big enough for cool down when warm. Material thick enough so you don't have to wear bulky long underwear during activities. Love the ankle cuff system, two snaps and drawstring for sizing. I often will not wear gators while snowshoeing because you can get cuff plenty tight over boot. When tight, elastic does stick out due to it's length. Often not noticeable though. Overall, a great comfortable play pant.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I bought these pants from my local REI before a winter trip to NZ. These were my only waterproof pants on the trip, and they worked great in the snow and the rainforests. I wore wool or cap4 underneath to stay warm. I was comfortable.
These pants are durable and lightweight. I inadvertently put a few slices through the shin area with my crampons, but those patched up. Went through the wash fine.
I'd buy them again because I don't like the elastic inners that most pants have near the ankles - I do wear gaiters for snow travel.
All in all, a bit expensive for REI gear, but excellent pants.

Comments about REI Taku Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
Comfortable and reliably waterproof. Breathe and move wonderfully and have just enough room for layering underneath without being baggy. Not light enough for general backpacking. Durable, but not bomber: my ski boot buckle managed to cut my cuff during hard use.
