Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Women's Petite:
I needed pants to keep me dry and protected from the wind while working as a ski instructor this winter. They were perfect! I adjusted the number and type of layers worn underneath, and was kept warm and dry in conditions ranging from 15 below to 35 and drizzly. They wash up well, and have worn beautifully. I've only biked to class in the rain once wearing these dandy slacks, but they performed great here as well. Being able to cinch the pant leg kept me free of the gears, and again, I was dry and warm on a chilly damp day. Kudos!

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Women's Petite:
I had a chance to wear these pants for the first time today on rainy fall day, I take walks and hikes thru marshes, wetlands, forest areas, near ponds and lakes. These pants tested tough under all conditions,as I made my way thru tall grasses, marshes and off trail hiking thru the forest also pockets are protected from the rain, I used the little bag for my camera(which also stayed dry. I like the lightweight of the pants, the water just pearls right off and they are very fast drying. As colder waether is approaching I am sure I can fit my polartec underneath. All I need now is a good rain jacket to go with.

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Women's Petite:
Have used for hiking, cycling/commuting. Solidly put together, will use these for a long time. I bought them last winter and couldn't resist getting another pair. Good to even just pull on as rain pants for golf, outdoor events etc.
Bought petite size, which I normally don't, but these fit well length-wise.
Probably only thing I might suggest is having a reflective tape along the side of leg or ankle area

Comments about REI Ultra Light Pants - Women's Petite:
I intended to buy these as a replacement for my older pair of REI rain pants, which finally gave out after 10+ years on the trails.
As with all REI products, the material and construction are consummate.
However the problem I had with these is that since I bought my last pair, the leg zips seems to have been minimized, coming to about halfway up my calf rather than to my knee. With a bit of maneuvering, and sitting on the floor pulling this way and that, I was finally able to get them on over my shoes, but it was the kind of struggle where I knew I would end up hating them if I kept them and had to do it with any regularity. Quite a disappointment, mostly because it seems so obvious a flaw.
A great pant if you know ahead of time you're going to need them, but not for backpacking or hiking where weather might force you to put them on after you have your boots on, and especially if you don't have room to writhe around fighting with them.
