Comments about Smith Toaster Sunglasses - Slider Series - Polarized:
I use these as my every-day glasses and love them. They are lightweight and very comfortable. I have a small head so they fit me well. I would think someone with a larger head would find these are too small or tight. I have the polarized lenses and they are great. Lenses are easy to change out, although you need to be careful not to crack the frame in the process. And the lenses always getting smudges on them when you removed them. So you will have to clean them often. Overall, wonderful glasses!

Comments about Smith Toaster Sunglasses - Slider Series - Polarized:
I wear these every time I walk outside, and have for the past 2 years. I also work on the water, and they are really great- I have the polarized lenses-so worth the extra cost- and the water doesn't have that harsh glare.
They are very comfortable, and have a classic shape, which is nice.
Although I have scratched both of the 2 lenses that are darker, and they are stratched out so badly from popping them atop my head.... I still recommend them.
Another plus, is that Smith has offered repair, which is fantastic- if only I can find a way to part with them for a little while!

I ordered a pair and tried them. If you dig style alone -- these may be for you. For the practical who want their eyes protected, please read on. First problem was the frames were not even: One side tipped higher than the other. Second problem is that the lens are small = no periperal protection. Third problem is that the lens eventually work themselves loose (up). Paying over $100 for a pair of sunglasses should get you some quality but these did not have it. I returned them and purchased a more expensive pair and the quality was there. I can't see any reason to purchase Smith over the cheapies at [...] and elsewhere. In a nutshell they are all style and not much use.

Comments about Smith Toaster Sunglasses - Slider Series - Polarized:
I've now bought these glasses twice (I lose things easily). They are lightweight on your face and sit comfortably on your nose without slippage. Most glasses for me are either too wide, or too heavy so they'll slip down my nose (I have a flatter nose). I take these out on the water, hiking, and running out doors. The frames have stretched out from sitting on top of my head, so don't do it if you don't want that to happen. I've also tried the Smith Sequels and Natives, but I always come back to the polarized Toasters.

I originally bought these sunglasses a few years ago. Since then, I've re-ordered replacement lenses. Now, the replacement lenses are no longer available. Please bring back the replacement lenses REI! I don't want to have to find another type of sunglasses to use.

Purchased these for the multiple lenses. I have a couple pair of Smith sunglasses and love them. These, although have all the functionality I was looking for, were way to small. I am returning them and plan to purchase the Julbo Dirt

Comments about Smith Toaster Sunglasses - Slider Series - Polarized:
I've had a pair of Smith Toasters for about five years now, and they are definitely my favorite sunglasses ever. They're good, all-around shades. In really intense sun or if I'm snowboarding in non-goggle weather, I will switch to a pair of very dark Oakley wraparounds, but the Toasters serve me well probably 90% of the time. They're halfway between 'fashion' and 'sporty' style, so you can pretty much wear them in any situation, from mountain biking to the mall.
The frames are really lightweight, and fairly flexible, but they've held up really well through my clumsiness and have never cracked or broken. The rubber pads on the earpieces hold them in place without squeezing your head, and they can even hold my hair back if I push them up on top of my head (a lot of lightweight sunglasses won't hold my hair).
After 5 years, the mirror coating around the edges of my dark lenses is starting to chip/peel away, but my vision isn't affected at all. I only have one significant scratch on the lenses where I can see it, and I am NOT particularly good at taking care of them. They have spent time in my purses and backpacks with no case, and not been significantly damaged. So even though they don't look very rugged, they apparently are!

Comments about Smith Toaster Sunglasses - Slider Series - Polarized:
I got these sunglasses because they were lightweight and its EXTREMELY hard to find sunglasses that will fit my smaller face. They look good and fit well and have held up in the month or two that I've had them.
I learned their true worth when we went snowshoeing on Mt. Rainier on a sunny day. Everyone else was complaining about how bright it was; I hadn't even noticed a problem. When I took these off, I was nearly blinded. Everyone else in my party tried them on and said they were better than their sunglasses!
Plus, the interchangeable lenses are super useful if you bike in low light.

Comments about Smith Toaster Sunglasses - Slider Series - Polarized:
I just wrecked a pair of these after close to three years of daily use. While the lenses lasted they were very good sunglasses which fit my medium face well. I only ever used two of the lenses, the darkest tint and the polarized, the yellow and clear were of little use to me.
After about 2 years both lenses each got some scratches on them, and the lenses began to de-laminate around the scratches. When I finally broke one of the arms off skiing last week, both lenses were a mess.
I was already planning on replacing them when the REI dividend came in.
I will probably buy another pair, but I wouldn't expect them to last more than three or four years.
