    If you're looking for a portable AM/FM radio with excellent reception and clarity of sound, this is it. But if you want to utilize the SW feature, look elsewhere. I tried the SW switches during the day and night but could not get any international stations. Still, for all the reasons mentioned above except for the SW feature, I would recommend this to a friend.

    I have taken this radio on 3 major outtings and keep expecting the battieries to go dead. I used this radio at Ostrander lake in Yosemite for 3 days only turning it off at small random intervals not to disturb the other packers. I must have 50 hours on the batteries and is showing no trace of weakness. Reception is excellent a great backpack radio when you want to here that sports game.

    This is the perfect indoor/outdoor radio, with sound quality that exceeded my expectations. The AM and FM stations come in far better than my home stereo system, but the SW channels are a bit more difficult to locate and hear (more so when inside a structure). Overall, the price is more than reasonable, and I foresee using this radio for years.

      Since 9/11 I've been keenly aware of the need to have a small, quality radio that you can comfortably walk with and carry in a purse. This is a terrific radio -- surprisingly good sound and very good and precise reception. I had an older model and this new one is better. A good value.

      I had a couple of large shortwave receivers when I was a kid and enjoyed listening. I picked up this radio hoping to relive the experience. The difficulty of the digital tuning to find a station and hold on to it has sent me looking for another radio.

          I was in he midst of the olympic mountains on a back country trek and managed to get several channels in crystal clear. It's small, light and affordable. Great Radio.

              I've been to over 40 countries and I take this little radio with me whenever I can--the shortwave radio is a great way to pick up news (both local and international) while on the road, as well as music, which only adds to the overall travel experience. Excellent travel tool--and I even use it here at home in the USA when I want to pick up some music or news on shortwave.
