I have used this product literally all my life. When cared for, this Dutch oven is literally multi-generational: it should last at least a century. This cast-iron pot is essentially what was used for cooking since about 1600 in North America by both native Americans and Europeans alike. There is a vast selection of uses for this Dutch oven, not the least of which is to experience the life-ways of our ancestors. And finally, this utensil works great for moist-cooking wild game without a lot of added fat, thus providing "green" local protien without contributing to global warming. As a Native American I take pride in employing traditional recipes to prepare local food items. I also sand down the lid and use it upside down to cook pancakes. All in all, a great bit of traditional gear!

I love this oven. I'd wanted one for a while. It's great for a small family. The booklet that comes with it is also really useful, since it provides a number of good recipes with extremely explicit directions to help novices like me not mess it all up.

Dutch ovens open up a whole range of cooking options otherwise not available when camping -- ranging from delicious meals to sweet desserts. I mostly use it when camping with a decent size group (because it's pretty big) and everyone really likes it.

Make sure to get a lid lifter for when it's hot.

Great product for car camping or backyard use. You can find other dutch ovens cheaper, but I like the quality of Lodge. Made in USA is a plus. Lots of fun to experiment at home with new recipies. Get one of these and impress you friends with some fresh baked dessert at your next BBQ.
