These are awesome. Rust is natural. To avoid it, clean and season it according to the directions. A rust issue is an indication of improper care.

Rusted

I bought this pan less than 1 month ago, used twice and it’s already rusted. I read the reviews about the rusting problem but I ignored it since I have another cast iron pan that I use almost everyday for years and never rusted. The pan on the left is the cast iron pan that I use for years and on the right is the one I just bought and used twice. I just don’t understand how my pan got so rusted, maybe defective??

happy with cast iron skillet

Not much I can say about a cast-iron skillet other than the build quality is good and the pre-seeding appears to have been done well. If you're not aware, cast-iron is excellent at heat retention and eveness in cooking. It also does an amazing job at browning meat. "Seeded" cast-iron (meaning the process of embedding cooking oil within the grain) acts as a natural non-stick surface when done correctly. In my experience it works quite well. Yes cast-iron is heavy. You also need to correctly clean and seed it. Those are not negatives, just the nature of using this type of cookware. If you are ok with that, it does an excellent job at cooking.

Couldn't live without it.

I cook pretty much everything I eat in this skillet. Not just camping, at home too. My favorite thing to do is plan meals based on what I made previously. Do yourself a favor and make a grilled cheese after you've made bacon in the skillet. It'll change your life. I have no idea how I went 30 years without one. It seems heavy, but considering It's the only cookware item I take camping it's really not. I'll be buying a Dutch oven next so I can make the things you cannot make in a skillet. I'd give it 6 star's if I could.

A camp and household MUST!

Having one of these is a must for camping and hunting trips in my book.! I remember grandma and mom using one of these and you can most definitely pass these on to your kids (I know I will). Ever wonder why cast iron has gone through time without changing? Cooking with one of these is probably the best way to cook due to even heat distribution. Makes this piece of equipment a very nice touch and essential piece of cooking ware. Check out the tutorials on how to properly season. I use mine often for cooking at home so it is well seasoned before I take it out for outdoor trips. I do not recommend washing yours with water if you can avoid it. I often just wipe mine out after cooking. Gives my cooking a very tasty and unique flavor! get one!

Lodge 10.24" Cast Iron Skiller

Needs seasoning before initial use. Lodge pre-season not too good. Once done, seems to work great.

Best Kitchen Item I've Ever Owned

I bought this pan when I moved into my first apartment. I cook on it whenever I can. It is usually one of the first things to get loaded into the car when going car-camping. This pan will easily outlast me.

Steaks Cooked to Perfection

It’s been a few months since purchase and it’s been used multiple times. The food comes out great, skillet heats evenly (handle gets hot too), and no worries of this thing warping due to how thicc it is. If you plan to purchase one for the first time, be aware that maintenance is important and very specific for a cast iron skillet. This thing should last you forever if maintained correctly. Definitely recommended!!

Quality & Price

For a cast iron pan this brand makes great products. I have several. Cost is much lower than the competition and quality is just as good if not better. Did I mention MADE IN USA!!! Which is uncommon these days. Food has a tendency to stick to the pan till it gets seasoned well so be prepared for that.

Pan already has rust?!

We used this pan ONCE and it already has rust (we believe) and the (rust?) spots cannot be cleaned. And no, we did not put it in the dishwasher. Not sure if this was a defective product....
