Comments about REI Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks - Men's:
Basic light backpacking/hiking sock- nothing more, nothing less. Have two pairs and they get me through weekend treks with ease. A year later they still perform their duty but I can definitely tell them thinning on the front pads. Price is right. I'll probably be buying these again.

I wear these as my everyday socks. I've got about 10 pairs. They are fine to wear year-round in SF.

Just like the lower cut socks these socks are comfortable and great for light hiking and around the office. These socks are great for the Panhandle of Florida, and I'll get a couple of more pair.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks - Men's:
I'm so in love with these socks. I want to wear them 24/7. They're super cushy. I feel like I'm wearing clouds on my feet whenever I put them on. I work out on the prairies of South Dakota. It has been an especially rainy year so the wetlands are even more wet than normal. I've trudged through wetlands and my feet didn't feel wet the rest of the day, even though they were. They aren't too tight around the leg, even with my big calves. They feel a little bit too big for my foot, but not enough to be annoying. They're bulky, but they fit in my work boots well enough. I love them. I have four pairs but I want more.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks - Men's:
I work in a cold storage enviornment ranging from +55 degrees to -15. These keep my feet warm inside my insulated boots. A bit cool in the -15 area and a bit warm in anything above 75 degrees. I would have rated these higher, but after the first washing I noticed one of the socks had a hole the size of pencil eraser in the ankle area.

Bought 4 pair for a month in Mexico. Perfect comfort for two weeks in the quite humid Yucatan Peninsula. Have worn a pair nearly every day for the past year. They're wearing thin now, and I'm on my way to renew my comfort with several new pairs.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks - Men's:
These socks are great. I've probably bought a dozen pairs over the last few years. They're perfect for hiking/backpacking/walking in cold to cool weather. They retain their warmth even when wet, and keep odor to a minimum. They're more durable than the average sock, but won't last forever.
I find these socks to be nearly comparable to the more expensive brands, only at a better value.
My only complaint is that my wife keeps stealing them to wear around the house or to bed in the winter!

Comments about REI Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks - Men's:
I have Smartwool socks that I wear often. There's when I began to really like Merino Socks. Since it's all natural, it's more environmentally friendly (biodegradable). It's also so soft and comfortable. I got the REI Merino Socks and I only where it 4-5 times a year. On the 3 year, my heal area already worn out whereas I would wear my Smartwool quite often. Not sure why the REI Merino socks wear so fast.

Comments about REI Merino Wool Light Hiker II Socks - Men's:
These socks are an incredible value considering how long they can last. I have one pair that has been worn weekly for over 12 years! And yes, they're a little threadbare by now, but still have no holes in them. And, they're warm, comfortable, and help keep my feet dry.
