    Comments about REI Hang-up Clothesline:

VERY Disappointed in the quality of the cord and the cheap plastic clips. The cord is way too long and the clips are strange in the way they open. It takes 3-4 clips to hold up a regular short sleeve cotton top.

I went back to using one I have from 5 years ago that even though stretched out, it is MUCH better design and quality than this new one.

Strongly suggest you do NOT bother with this product.

    • The "clothes pins"

    Best Uses

      Comments about REI Hang-up Clothesline:

The clothes pins don't stick to the line. When you hang up clothes to dry, they all slide downhill in a clump. You can overcome this by pinning the line with the article of clothing, but it's a pain in the neck and ultimately, for me, the plastic parts broke. You're better off buying a short piece of nylon cord and some small lightweight plastic clothes pins.

      Comments about REI Hang-up Clothesline:

I boughtthis to use on while back packing, it was difficult to set up, the clips slid together easily and have to be clipped to the line which is a pain. The function that should adjust the tension did not work well and overall I was disappointed with the purchase, keep looking.

      Comments about REI Hang-up Clothesline:

I have used this line on four backpacking trips so far. It has held up great. I like how the clips aren't attached to the line. This lets me put the clips where i need them.I can put them close together for socks or far apart for my sleeping bag. I like the reflective markings on the line it self. Nice touch for at night so you don't walked into it. It is very light weight for a clothe line. This product is not designed for heavy everyday use nor was it intended to be.

        Comments about REI Hang-up Clothesline:

My friends tease me because I tend to like to bring all of the extras when I car camp. But this is so small and lightweight, and so very practical, it is a very nice addition to your camping kit, particularly if you are out for more than a day or two. Works well. Yes, you could just use a piece of rope or twine, but the adjustible length and integrated clips make this very convenient to add to your camping kit and a bit of wind does not blow down your laundered items.

        Comments about REI Hang-up Clothesline:

The length adjuster on the end was finicky to use. I ended up replacing it with a small Nite-ize figure 9 rope tightener. Then I was frustrated by the habit of the clips to slide together, scrunching up the clothes I was trying to spread out to dry. I solved this by replacing the cord supplied with a mil spec flat cord that offered some, but not too much, resistance to sliding freely.

I use this everytime I camp. We hang our dishrags and smelly socks on it. The clamps work great, although if is isnt taught and level, they can bunch in the middle.

        Comments about REI Hang-up Clothesline:

I used this clothesline for smaller items that I'd hand washed while hostelling in SE Asia. The rope length and end clips are great, but the clips do slide to the middle if you have heavier things on the line. Overall though, it does the job as long as you're not trying to hang up jeans. :)

          Comments about REI Hang-up Clothesline:

It works, it does what it is supposed to. It's great that it's small and doesn't take up a lot of space. It's a tad flimsy and I don't know that it will hold up for a long time. I prefer to buy items that will really last. I did have to knot it in several places to keep the clips from sliding around. I would love it if they came out with slightly bigger version (thicker, longer rope, bigger clips). I was able to fit a few of my kids items on it, but I don't know how it would fare with heavier items.
