Comments about Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat:
This vest was indispensible to us when our black german shepherd, who loved swimming, lost her right front leg to bone cancer. It enabled her and us to continue to be confident she was safe in the water, even though she was an amputee. The top handle comes in very handy for assisting an older dog in and out of water with rugged shorelines. The high visibility is great. She wore this to swim for many years, until we lost her to her cancer at 13 years old. We then passed the vest on to another family, who are using it for their two dogs. Despite almost daily use, it was still like new.
When a new dog came into our lives, we ordered her one right away, and she is learning to swim in it as well.

Comments about Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat:
Our dog was rather afraid of water early on, since his first encounter was falling off a dock unexpectedly. Now we can hardly keep him out of the water. His lifejacket doubles his endurance, and he wears it all the time- with exception of very hot days. It's perfect for rough water, canoe trips, and quick trips to the beach. We will be buying a second one for our puppy, as well!!

Comments about Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat:
I've found this to be the best designed PFD for dogs available. The construction is durable and the fit is good that my dogs don't seem to mind wearing their vests at all. One is not that confident in swimming, but when he's got his vest on you can barely get him out of the water. My other dog is an enthusiastic swimmer, sometimes too eager, so I know that this coat will keep her afloat should she tire out. Highly recommended!

Comments about Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat:
On a recent canoe trip, we bought life vests for our two dogs and we immediately saw how the vests gave the dogs the added confidence to swim into deeper water. Previously, both dogs liked to wade in shallow water, but were always too timid to swim far from the shore. The vests fit the dogs very well and they didn't mind wearing them all day, and the handle on top made dragging them back into the boat a breeze. By the end of the trip both dogs were jumping off of the canoes. A must have for any adventure loving dog.

Comments about Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat:
Best doggie life vest for anyone that takes their dogs out on the water! Also great for just letting them go for a swim! Added benefit is that the vest keeps them really warm, even when swimming in cool waters (all that we've got here in Alaska!). Great handle on the top of the jacket for pulling them out of the water (wish they could wear it all the time for that handle!). If you wear a life vest, then your doggie needs one too! Small investment that can save their life!

Comments about Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat:
The dog life jackets are the best made. At [$] a piece I was a little worried to spend so much. After trying the cheap version, these are hands down so much better.I have 2 golden retrievers. They both weight about 85 lbs. I bought the large. It fits good - and have room to tighten down when needed. The color is good - boats can see them better. The handle on the back of the jacket is key. I can pull them out of the water onto the boat without hurting them, just my back since they are 85 lbs. These are the real deal. They are not cheesey like the cheap ones. These are very durable, very well made. Same quality as higher-end people life jackets. Dogs can roll in the ground and no harm done. Worth the investment. The only downside, which is true for any dog jacket, is when the dogs are in the boat and not swimming, I worry they could over heat.

I have a 3 year old dog and the last 2 years I needed something for my dog to wear for all her crazy sports she wants to do...but she always hated wearing anything on her. This Lifejacket is great for any dog...she doesn't mind wearing it. Comfortable and light, so she can also now continue to kayack, inner tube, swim long distance (without freaking out her mom) jetski and ride in boats. Looking for something to protect your Dog from haviing so much fun in the Water or feel more confident in the water...this is great. Thanks

Comments about Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat:
Great product - had the misfortune of testing it by flushing the dog and myself out the boat while in a hole near the top in a class IV rapid. Dog swam the whole thing, and came out unphased. The advantage I found on this PDF is that it has more lower float than many doggie ones do. What good is float if it's up on top of the dog, I must ask?

I have a 70 lb lab/aussie and I got her a large, it fits her great and she loves it. She was already a very strong swimmer to begin with but with the vest on she seems to save energy and it helps her to keep her mouth out of the water more (less choking on water when she's retrieving the tennis ball!). The handle is great for pulling her out of the water and the flashy yellow makes it easy to spot her.

Comments about Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat:
My dog loves this jacket!! He doesn't like to "wear" anything and he typically backs away from me when I try to put clothing/gear on him; however, he will sit patiently for me to put the float coat on him!! He can swim much longer with this than without it. We love this jacket!!! My dog gets so excited when he sees me with it. : )
