Comments about Yakima 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Adapter:
So after reading the reviews here I decided that I would just go for it and order this in to my local REI and if it did not fit my CLASS 1 1.25" hitch like many said it would not then I would take advantage of REI's awesome return policy and post my confirmation.Fortunately for me, this fit my Curt CLASS 1 hitch receiver perfectly! I don't know how others were having problems. Maybe because the hole is drilled for the Yakima locking pin and not a normal hitch pin to secure it. If you do not have one of those pins I suggest picking one up or be ready to drill out the pin hole to be able to use a standard pin. This adapter made my life much easier and my rack more stable since I had a 1.25" to 2" adapter plus the rack that made things as unstable as a [*].Highly recommended if you have a Yakima rack compatible with this adapter and a car with a 1.25" receiver.

Comments about Yakima 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Adapter:
I installed a Class I hitch from Hidden Hitch (One of the most common hitches on the market) on my Mazda 3 with the assumption that this adapter would allow me to use my Kingpin 4. NOWHERE does it say that it doesn't fit some/or any hitches! [...]

Comments about Yakima 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Adapter:
I read the previous reviews before I bought this adapter, so I was worried that it might not work well. I do have a Class 2 hitch, though, which only costs a few bucks more than the Class 1. I used the carrier almost every day all summer with 2 to 4 bikes on it and have experienced none of the bent pins or loose fit described in previous reviews. I have also swapped it with the 2 inch adapter several times and it has worked just fine. It's not fancy but gets the job done. So I guess the lesson here is to use this adapter with a Class 2 receiver.

Comments about Yakima 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Adapter:
We used this with the Kingpin 4, and found that within a month, the pin to allow the rack mast to tilt down had bent beyond usefulness (used a hammer to get it out, couldn't get it back in.)Poorly designed adapter. You can see problem in picture- large plastic box at top of adapter has too small flange in center- creates too much bending for pin to take. [...]Apparently, Yakima hasn't figured this adapter out yet completely.

Comments about Yakima 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Adapter:
This device is used to adapt a 2" hitch bike rack to a 1.25" hitch receiver. Except that it does not fit! The adapter is too long to fit properly in the receiver, so the holes for the pin do not match. Before I bought the adapter, I called Yakima and they said that it should fit, that it was made for a class 1 hitch (I have a Civic). Upon reading the manual, it says it only fits 1.25" CLASS 2 hitches, and apparently, Yakima does not make an adapter for a 1.25" class 1 hitch. Plain dumb (!), since my rack (Kingpin 4) is supposed to work with class 1 hitches with the adapter. At least that's what Yakima told me.
Go figure!
