The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
This jug collapses collapses very conveniently as the water level drops, so it is easy to stash in your car or for storage. However, in order to make it so flexible, they had to make the material very thin. We punctured it easily on our second trip when it was mostly empty. You also have to be careful to set it squarely on a very level surface, or it may shift over time and take a nose dive. Although it is fragile, the packability is nice if that's an important feature to you. Can't complain too much for the price, after all.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
we use this water container for car camping trips, and have had no problems with it yet (purchased in 2008). my 13-yr-old (who can be rough on items) has filled and carried the container multiple times without issue and without leaks. we always put our water container on the picnic table (which we always have a tablecloth on), so I guess we really baby it!
the spout tends to be a little drippy if you don't pay attention and make sure to turn it closed--something we now pay attention to.
and, when placing the container, you have to hold the handle for a minute so it regains its square shape, or it can start to roll. and, be aware if your picnic table is on an incline. otherwise, it's an awesome container that we're really happy with!

Although this container will hold a good amount of water, the nozzle is near impossible to seal completely shut. I have soaked out the floor of my car two times now and i have learned to prop this container upright while driving around.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
I didn't like it. It leaked right away, and for the sort of boat and car camping this is designed for, it probably wouldn't have held up anyway. I took it back and got the hard sided one.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
My only problem with this item is that it can be difficult for a single person to fill. The handle is flexible and it's hard to hold this thing in position once it starts filling up and gets heavy. If the water source is a hand pump it is nearly an impossible operation for a single person! Likewise it is pretty clumsy to use this to fill a larger holding tank (say, in your camper). Since this is my main need I have purchased a hard container to replace this item.
(FYI the 2.5 gallon Fold-a-Carrier with the rigid red plastic handle is much easier to handle and I would recommend that one to a friend).

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
Worked well when new but as others have mentioned, it did not hold up past one or two adventures and it developed leaks. The nozzle can leak too if not set upright.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
We used this water container on a one week car camping trip to the Sierras. It worked like a champ. It is lightweight, collapsible, and takes up little space when empty. We used it on another trip a few months later, and found it had sprung a leak along one of the seams. We threw it out. Although it is inexpensive, we expect items to last for more than one trip. It is not durable.
