Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
Bought 4 of these to take on an extended river trip. 1 of 4 leaked when test filled. The replacement carrier also leaked. That's 40% failure brand new. Unuseable. Warrantied for 5 years, but this does you no good when you are 4 days from anywhere. Leaks appear to originate at the creases and corners of the original folds. Do not trust these carriers if your water requirements depend on them.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
When I went to my local REI they didn't have the water storage container I wanted to purchase. I said to the REI employee, "I don't want to get one of those collapsable ones because I read on the reviews that they leak." He told me it really wouldn't be a problem and I trusted him. I went to fill it up THE VERY FIRST TIME, had it on a clean kitchen counter, didn't overfill it, etc. As soon as I tipped it on its side to see if I had screwed the cap on tight enough there was a steady tiny stream of water shooting out the side... I should have trusted my instincts. Don't ever buy one of these!!!

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
This container is pretty bad - it started leaking immediately upon filling it via a small hole at the corner where it was folded from the factory. Also, the handle isn't thick enough, so it collapses around your hand when full. I'll be returning it.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
Had a pinhole leak in it brand new out of the bag. Filled it, drove to my camp, left it in the front passenger seat-well, and came back to find about half the water (2.5 gallons) had leaked out over 2+ days. Still working to get a slight mold/mildew smell out of my car. Don't take the risk with this product.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
Started to leak out the side the first time I filled it up. Another person I was camping with had the same issue except leak was on the bottom.
This item has such a low rating that REI should pull it off the shelf. I am returning mine.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
We needed a water container for our recenty camping trip with the kids. We thought this would fit the bill. WHen full, the handle would buckle when I picked it up. The thing is so fragile that one of the folds in it had a hole and leaked water all over the place and got another hole when it fell onto the ground ( 1 ft drop). Very dissapointing product.
On the upside, the spout was easy to operate, and water flowed out in a slow controlled manner that made it easy for my 4yo to get water out and into his cup without disaster.
Good idea, poor execution. I will be returning this.

We carried this around in our pack for a road trip, but never used it on that trip. Went to use it a few weeks later for camping and it was already punctured. Seems to be very thin and easily punctured.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
We've used two of these on several camping trips and a cross-country road trip. It packs away very small so you can carry several without an issue. The walls are thin so we always bring two just in case, but honestly haven't had any issues with durability.
(Also, it's a thermoplastic so it CAN be repaired by gently melting and squeezing the area around the hole, very unlike vinyl or rubber bladders.)
My only complaint is that it's very hard to carry when it's full, it's just a sack of water and the handle is all but useless. The best way is to hold it like a baby as you walk back to your site, but that means you can only carry one at a time.

Comments about Reliance Fold-A-Carrier Water Carrier - 5 gal.:
we use this water container for car camping trips, and have had no problems with it yet (purchased in 2008). my 13-yr-old (who can be rough on items) has filled and carried the container multiple times without issue and without leaks. we always put our water container on the picnic table (which we always have a tablecloth on), so I guess we really baby it!
the spout tends to be a little drippy if you don't pay attention and make sure to turn it closed--something we now pay attention to.
and, when placing the container, you have to hold the handle for a minute so it regains its square shape, or it can start to roll. and, be aware if your picnic table is on an incline. otherwise, it's an awesome container that we're really happy with!

Worked well when new but as others have mentioned, it did not hold up past one or two adventures and it developed leaks. The nozzle can leak too if not set upright.
